They say rain but no idea how much or when that rain will fall so.. wait until Friday at least.

It will certainly be much cooler than it has been this whole week.

Aye. Weather Pro forecast has heavy rain Friday and Saturday. Rain Sunday but looks more like sun and heavy showers.

It’s a bit early to take any of it as gospel.

Don’t know what happened to the world but in the 2000s it never rained during a season. One could go multiple seasons before seeing 2 wet races, at least as far as I remember, now it feels it rains every other race.

Maybe my memory is very fuzzy.

Hamilton basically won his 2008 title by winning wet races.

In 2007 we also had a few; Fuji, Shangai, Nürnberg.

2006 Budapest, Shangai…

The years before I wasn't following F1 close enough to remember.
Thank you really doesn't really describe enough what I feel. - Vettel

Some asphalt path in the middle of a grass runoff is a bad idea

The season starts earlier and finishes later now so we have more opportunity for wet weather.

I'm gonna be crazy and predict PIA-LEC-VER-NOR-SAI-HAM-RUS-ALO-PER for the race finish order assuming no DNFs and a dry race.

If it rains it's going to be absolute carnage with a crazy finishing order.

1. LEC
2. ALO
3. NOR
4. VER
5. STR
6. SAI
7. HAM
8. PER
9. RIC
10. GAS

PIA, RUS DNF after a turn 1 collision when both qualified on row 3.
SAR DNF after binning it, same for TSU.

Source: I love Alonso and I'm completely delusional.

With rain i can only see Leclerc, Norris or Verstappen winning. With the way McLaren gets its tyres working easily, they'll probably have the easiest time in the wet (just as they did in 2023)

and weather seems very likely

Worth remembering that Button was so fast here in 2011 because Mclaren brought a higher downforce package. This was at a time when there had been some debate about the merits of not going lower downforce on long straight tracks, in order to make up for it in braking zones and corners, which could help qualifying but perhaps leave you more vulnerable on Sunday. But this was also pre-DRS, where overtaking was still quite difficult. It had worked well for Button in Monza the previous year, where he went with a high downforce package and Lewis a low downforce one. Button outqualified Lewis by like half a second, showing the pure pace advantage of higher downforce, and then still held onto 2nd in the race as well.

Just saying, if rain really is expected across the whole weekend, it might be worth a punt for some teams to punt on a slightly higher downforce configuration than they'd otherwise pick.

EDIT: Also in reference to Button's majestic 2011 race, a lot of people forget he took out his teammate Lewis earlier on. lol

Oh jeez, you're right. I dont know why I had it in my head in the moment that DRS was only in 2013.
