According to rumours on twitter the regulations are moving away from venturi tunnels and back to flat floors with a rear floor edge similar to 2021.

I believe the regs will be released tomorrow so we will see for certain.
Still, my guess is that the 2026 season will be a disaster and that the energy flow rate will be quickly upped to near-2014 levels, thus making the aero and chassis regulations actually workable and really cool.

I don't think upping the energy flow from 3000 MJ/hr to something higher would be possible. The manufacturers would claim that they would need to completely redesign.

Yeah I also saw all these rumors about suddenly going back to flat floors! Why though?

Sooo we will be getting a model of the 2026 rules today it seems! =D>

Rear wing looks a bit low…like the pre-2008 ones

Getting similar vibes from the front wing too, we'll see soon enough.

Based on Dr Obbs' deleted tweet the rear wing is going to look like the previous gen of cars and crucially no more ground effect

Looks like spoon front wing and detached nose. Still long idiotic swept wing of course  Endplates are back at the rear, doesn't look like current rule set made any difference anyway and rear wing look really weird in side view now.

Will be interesting to see what the floor rules will be in the end

And they call it a stall. A STALL!

If the rear wing end looks like it is rolled as it currently

Front wing is swept back as it currently or dipped as we saw in 2006

If confirmed that "ground effects" are no longer a major part of the generated downforce then we will go back to terrible dirty air. Things have already gotten worse in the ground effects era but cars can still keep very close for a long time.

So basically a modernized version of the 2005-08 cars from the looks of it....

Except heavier, bigger, and with less power. Modernity =D>

And many teams should understand ground happenings better as case in current regs.

I don't think the endplates are back. The corner looks very rounded and the upper elements seems to be the highest point on the wing, meaning no endplates. I guess they could have endplates with rounded corners that don't go any higher than the top of the upper element (somewhat like the 2022 Aston Martin high downforce wing), but that makes no sense to me. I'm guessing it's just a very boxy rear wing with straight sides and rounded tips.

2026 really looks like it’s going to be a complete disaster.

Sub-600HP engines, narrow chassis and huge downforce cuts, while the cars lose only a few dozen kg. They’re legitimately going to be like 10 seconds a lap slower at tracks like Spa. It’s ridiculous that these regulations were pushed through.

Pick a small, heavy, low-downforce chassis OR a weak engine. Not both.
Narrow chassis? I only remember narrower tires.

Things getting worse is an FIA specialty...
