Conditions change so quick here, also the drying out of the track. Mixed conditions will let Lady Luck come in to play.

I think rain expected at beginning of Quali

Lot of remarks made about fp3 in team threads.

Merc looked good. Ferrari looked bad. Red bull better than expected given the curbs. McLaren so-so. RB ($app) looked good.

Merc and Aston most likely were on glory runs
RedBull and Mclaren looked 'well settled' everywhere, except RB20 looking bad in the last chicane.
Ferrari were struggling with something, looked nothing like how they did in FP2. Dry track, so not tyres.
VCARB looked good.

Considering Merc is fastest in the corners, how do you suggest they were glory running?

Fuel? That certainly didn’t look to be the case given the number of laps performed.

They still need to put it together in qualifying, but that was the most real/commanding performance from them all year.

Looking at fp3 data in context of wing levels being run by different teams and previous top speeds

I think can safely say McLaren and red bull are currently running lower engine modes

Redbull spending more time on throttle and brakes, and less time in corners than Merc.
Mostly likely it means Merc had turned up the engine more and Redbull was very conservative with braking input.
