Whatever happened to Max through turns 6-7 cost him half a second on the run down to turns 8-9. But the gap at the start of the sequence of corners only has Max a tenth up before hitting the brakes. So where did the 4 tenths go for Russell on the entry into 6-7 - given the apex time difference was .521
Max was 0.22 or so up, right before the entry to T6. The kerb at apex of T6 caused the stiff front (kerb issues with RB20) to snap a little, needing him to correct a little and wash too early into an 'early apex' for T7, which severely compromised into an understeery exit from T7, ruining the run to T8-T9 chicane.
Both have different driving styles, Max rotates the car superbly, for something that doesn't want to rotate that quickly, compared to competition (inherently more understeer due to the severely stiff front).

The same seems to happen again into the hairpin. Equal into the hairpin, but Max gets 0.38 gain on the apex. Then up the straight Russell claws it all back with the help of the tow.
T10 is a talent corner, very subtle. I clearly saw Lewis take a no-apex-kiss line through it, and still be faster than Russel. Max was masterful through there.
