What are they doing? Just retire the car
They restarted the engine to fix the issue. Retiring the car does not make sense since they still need the data in wet conditions to fix the car's problems.
Good point its test session IMO

More or less it will resume back to normal service in Spain. They need to seriously learn from this and this is where Fred needs to step in.

Sainz has crashed. That's all that was needed to complete this weekend's disaster.

Perfect ending for such a shitshow of a weekend.

We needed this. Some people were too happy in the Team. Lot of mistakes. Good wake up call.

Luckily Red Bull is probably not going home with more than 15 points today. The double DNF would have been a lot more costly at any other track.

Shocking weekend!
$hit happens and based on the season so far, for the most part that's all it is.
That said, car has got a big problem in both cool and changing conditions, I hope they get it sorted in double quick time because now the gaps have closed up it's becoming very costly!

Agreed, better to have all the issues at once. Car is really not suited to cold or wet tracks for an undiscovered reason. Best all round car is now the McLaren imo, but verstappen gives rbr the edge. Watch Ferrari have a car suited for high track temps have rainy weekends all year now 😂

Everything that's happened is easily explained by what we know about the car's characteristics.

It was designed to put as little heat into the tyres as possible in order to fix the issues of its predecessor -- overheating that caused poor race pace. CGV as a circuit has no high-speed corners and a lot of straights, meaning that the cars that put less energy into the tyres suffer the most, as they simply can't keep the heat in the tyres. It's why the SF23 was good around this circuit and it's why the RB19 was vulnerable -- because of that very characteristic.

Now combine this with low temperatures, a chaotic weekend plagued by brake and PU issues you have the perfect storm for such a situation to happen. No strategy could've ever salvaged this.

Well that weekend could not really have been any worse. Literally everything was bad. They’ve generally been good all year so I’m not going to go on about it but hopefully it can be a one off and they learn something from it.

The important thing will be to understand and fix the lack of pace - if it is just cold conditions, hopefully the combination of European summer and Silverstone update will mitigate that. Does anybody know which engine Leclerc was running? I wonder if it’s the same one they took out ahead of Monaco qualifying.
