Cold Q session strikes again  Only Ferrari can take a step back on quick tyre heatup and end up facing half the Q sessions 10-15 degrees colder than usual

And with their luck of course, cold race tomorrow will help Mercedes survive the degradation... If there was a time to aim for a one-stop in Barcelona or use only S and M tyres, its tomorrow
Ferrari and we can’t blame tyre heat-up issue. Car was just to slow.

This statement from the steward means that you can deliberately crash into rivals and if it's not dangerous, it's only deemed worthy of a reprimand. So erratic driving like brake checks at low speed (or what Seb did) are A-OK
OY VEY THINK OF THE IMPLICATIONS

You can't usually change an inherent characteristic of the car through a season. This car is not quick in Q3, that's it.
They will have to fix it for next year while retaining good race performance.

And Mercedes and McLaren have done their homework.

The car was terrible in the last corner by the way.

EDIT: See remarks posted above.

Crazy to still have this issue after 3 years of development. Red Bull and McLaren can take T14 just about flat. Both Leclerc and Sainz had to lift to about 70% throttle. Shame.

Yeah I don’t know if I buy tyre warm up is the issue - by far the strongest sector for them all weekend was sector 1. If anything, I wonder if their wing choice was the right one after all, as (and I haven’t seen the telemetry yet) it seemed like they had good top speed but were losing out in the high downforce sections. Either that or - or more like and - the performance just isn’t there. But I don’t see how this is related to tyre warm up tbh.

Last year, we had a car that was extremely competitive in qualifying, but sucked in race pace. Now we have a car that sucks in both.

We've definitely improved consistency. Too bad it was for the worse...

Bouncing is apparently to blame: https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/sain ... /10626202/

Leclerc talking about the setup he did paying off in the race - and perhaps there’s hope as you’d think bouncing will be less prevalent in the race than quali, so if that’s the issue then perhaps the inherent performance gap will be lower as cornering speeds decrease in the race - but it’ll always be very hard staring from the third row. The hundredths of gap to Mercedes could be significant as a row 2 lock out would have been raceable.

Has to be a suspension issue? The rest of the car is extremely similar to the top two teams.

Quite a hefty lift really. Some were claiming it would be flat in quali for them.
