Sainz complained about the bouncing though. The bouncing might have been small but maybe more destabilizing than the others? Just spitballing. Anyways, Charles sim work typically manifests in a strong weekend afterwards, so let's see what they do to fix the setup.

“ The fact is interesting: with the SF-24 in the evolving version that made its debut in Imola, some small correlation problem would have emerged between the wind tunnel and the simulation systems and the track. The performance growth of the red, even with the latest update brought to Barcelona, did not give the results that the Cavallino technical staff expected in the challenge with Red Bull and McLaren. So much so that in Spain even Mercedes has put its muzzle in front of the Scuderia single-seater, suggesting that the Maranello car has expired even at the fourth force.”

Funny, I read a quote posted earlier that no issues with correlation and the performance/load they found was better than expected. Except they weren’t able to use it effectively due to setup issues between FP and Q.

I am surprised that you are surprised, Ferrari have a tradition of underdelivering upgrades and lacking correlation here and there over the season, I find these reports quite normal.

OR, maybe Ferrari really are seeing what they were expecting but numbers were pumped way too much by the press in the first place.

If forum1a uno says the numbers correlated, then I'd believe them first.

Why go with a bunch of third party sources when the team principal discussed it?
"We're happy with the numbers we've seen in terms of updates. First of all, everyone is improving and it's not that if you bring something you'll certainly be in front, but it's certain that if you don't bring something, you'll be left behind," said the Ferrari team principal.
"Everyone brings new parts every 2-3 races and sometimes you just work on aerodynamics, but you must not forget that you don't just develop that sector. Sometimes, then we need one or two races to get the best out of the package we have. In the last 12 months, we have seen a kind of convergence of performance linked to set-up."

There were incredibly small margins for finishing on the podium. It might as well have been decided by a gust of wind. This would have completely changed the general perception.

This thing about correlation is a bit of a distraction here. There are always discrepancies in correlation because the simulation is never perfect, and your work never is either. What's more interesting is to understand why there are discrepancies, is it because you are running a different setup than the simulator in the race, or is it because everything is behaving completely differently than the simulator said?

Adjusting the simulator with the updates is exactly what is typically meant when someone wants to extract more from the update or have to learn to setup the car better.

What needs to be figured out by the team now is if the setup they need to run to extract most from the car can be done, and if not figure out how easy it is to solve these new issues they may have uncovered without compromising the setup choices they made.

Just talking about correlation issues is pretty meaningless as it's a pretty normal part of development to have discrepancies and fix them.

The enemy of the SF-24 is not bouncing but rather the softer tires that move the platforms too much in Q.
Ferrari 677 is changing the design of both suspensions, front and rear. The design of the frame will obviously change

Expected choice for Austria, but smaller than what I was rooting for  At least it's definitely bigger than last year's wing and about equal to RB's
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

The story about new chassis, new suspension, etc doesn't really add up with budget cap and focus on 2026. Teams are more likely to use as much carryover as possible. This was already pointed out before the beginning of the year. that the 2024 car needed to be a "2-year car". Mercedes also mentioned that changes like this cost them a large portion of their development budget last year as a reference point.

It's similar-ish to Red Bull in 2021 imo. When you think the chance for a title is there, you have to go for it. The teams are so equally matched right now that a new chassis and suspension would help immeasurably in that fight. Plus, if the suspension is similar to the ones used in 2026, then that is knowledge gained which will help for that car as well.
