Yeah things look rosy for Max as far as the wdc goes but one more dnf and thibgs may start to get hairy. Hes already guaranteed at least one engine penalty so that race will likely be a low scoring one. Will not be easy to get to the podium with all these top cars in the way. Mclaren have to become the clear best car though where theyre expected to win everywhere. Only then should Max be really shaking in his boots.

What helps is the antoginist has switched from LeClerc to Norris.
Charles was seeming like the challenger, and then he fell away englarging the buffer to Max. Now Norris is the challenger. Hamilton and Russel will now take points of these two to further lessen the threat for the WDC.
For Sure!!

Last year, Tsunoda got a 5 second penalty for this:

This year, no penalty for Hamilton for this:

Another T1 side by side for comparison:

Yea it's crazy. They've just completely stopped enforcing the rules about forcing others off-track. Sainz has been screwed twice now because of this this season(though he also did it to his teammate in China, but I'm ok with not punishing inter team infractions the same way).

This is not only dangerous, it's just unfair and terrible for racing. We get deprived of better battles. Some of the most exciting and celebrated battles are when drivers are both fair to each other and give each other room so they can race side by side for longer. But seriously, you'd be stupid to do this anymore when the stewards wont punish you for just running your opponent off-track instead, gaining a huge advantage.

Sainz moved twice then got outbraked. He also pinched Hamilton into the entry.
People want hard racing but when they get hard racing, they don't like it.
Sainz pinched inward and got a little tap and stayed on track. Why should there be a penalty?
For Sure!!

This kind of thing has been happening since 2022 already, with no clear challenger for the title. It's helped Max look super dominant when no team or driver can consistently keep their sh** together.

Fully expect Charles to be back in the fight again, helping Max even more to stretch his lead.

Crazy that the battle behind Max is yet again quite tasty and could be a vicious 6 driver fight for the top 3 places.

Entirely different situations, for one thing.
The only difference i see between Zhou/Yuki and Hamilton/Sainz is that Zhou decided to back out, where'as Sainz didn't, which resulted in contact. Had Zhou kept his line, the result would pretty much have been the same as Sainz/Hamilton - perhaps with slightly rougher contact, but basic principle is the same.

People want hard and clean racing. And it's possible to have both.

Russell and Norris was hard racing, and it was clean. Alonso vs. Russell/Hamilton at Bahrain 23 was hard and clean racing.

As it stands, it’s still a P2 for Verstappen in the race he decides to take the penalty since they will likely take it on a track where it’s easy to overtake. Let’s not forget that he and Lando were miles ahead of the others in Spain still.

But they will need another engine because this one was always planned. So that means 2 races from the back still.

And if more teams start to challenge it isn’t automatically good for max, you can also loose more points.

You are just nit picking at this point. Rubbing is racing. It was clean pass. Extreme scrutiny whenever it comes to Hamilton from some corners. The overtake was blinding and on edge and was appreciated by the Spanish crowd, even if it was against their driver.

Some team radio. Max had more in the tank as expected. He merely managed the pace to save his tyres.
Interestingly the race engineer never really says push hard, only to manage less. They haven't gone all out all season.

No issue with no penalty to Lewis there, was probably borderline but I think the right call.

Yuki, probably need to see his on board s alittle too, But I wonder how much Zhou sharp turn down the escape road made it look worse compared to Carlos hanging on around the outside, Without on board etc it does make Yukis look worse, was more room there I think than Zhou made it look. But on boards/steering inputs made play a role in those decisions too

Tsunoda is defending, Hamilton is attacking! Plus Bottas had to take the escape road…Sainz didn’t!

Not that difficult to see the difference…

Im sorry are we reading the same thing? Or are you intentionally misrepresenting what you're posting to suit your narrative..?
Lap: 52/66 VER: 1’17.931

Verstappen What do you want me to do, mate?

Lambiase We need to push to the end now Max.
I also had max's onboard up for the entire race, as I do for every race using multiviewer. He was absolutely using all of the car's pace here

You are deluding yourself if you think red bull are hiding pace at this point. For instance, Max started the post-SC phase in P2 behind Lando at Miami for instance and Lando easily dropped him out of DRS and pulled 5s on Max. But he was simply managing there too I suppose
