IMHO, Lando should have also got a penalty for forcing Max off the track the lap or 2 before. Just like Nico did 24hours earlier.
Nico:
Lando:
Why? Lando gave the position back immediately
In Nico's case the problem wasnt the giving of the position back.
The Stewards, having received a report from the Race Director, have considered the following
matter and determine the following:
No / Driver 27 - Nico Hulkenberg
Competitor MoneyGram Haas F1 Team
Time 12:30
Fact Car 27 forced Car 14 off track at turn 3.
Infringement Breach of Appendix L, Chapter IV, Article 2 b) of the International Sporting Code.
Decision 10 second time penalty.
(10 seconds added to elapsed Sprint time).
2 penalty points (total of 2 for the 12 month period).
Reason The Stewards reviewed video and in-car video evidence.
The driver of Car 27 attempted an overtake on Car 14 into Turn 3 but locked up and
missed the apex.
The Car understeered to the very edge of the track, thereby
preventing Car 14 from turning in and forcing the other driver off track.
Competitors are reminded that they have the right to appeal certain decisions of the
Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and
Chapter 4 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits.
