Would be cool to start working on 2026 cars next year and then in 2026 see how many F1 teams steal from you guys, wouldn't it?
Sure, I agree

On another note, do you know when we should expect the reports?
I think, they went out on Thursday.
Also, the Challenge page is now updted with the results:
https://mantiumchallenge.com/results-mvrc-monaco-2024/
But, just to make sure, you guys see it, here are the scrutineering results:

Busor Racing:
  • 2.3
  • 11.4
  • 12.2.1
CAEdevice:
  • 12.2.1
F.E.S.T.:
  • 9.1
  • 11.4
MaxTaylor:
  • 2.4
Variante:
  • 6.1.1
The repeated rules violation by F.E.S.T. and Variante, result in a penalty for both teams.

One to ruminate on for a while.

https://i.imgur.com/PngofIR.png

Things that shock me:

1) How flat the floor is
2) How limited the outer floor is in thickness and the plan suggests slots are going to be limited.
3) How raised bottom of the diffuser appears to be
4) No floor fences at all (other than the mandated in-washers)
5) No beam wing
6) Rear wing end plates are back
Nice spots.
7) rear wing is far back from the diffuser

Can you share the source of those geometry boxes?

Krasen

It was just a picture the FIA shared as far as I know

They're going back to the early 2000s :o
All these rule changes over the years to facilitate overtaking just to go back to the good old days...

Those in-washers are very unusual for F1. But they remind me of the inwashing strategy I used to adopt on my old cars. I wouldn't mind having another go at them.

Yeah, I only run "MVRC template" for the last few years now. By results this year have been within 0.5% error CLA of the official. I'm impressed y'all do as well as you do with the fast!
Unrelated to this but could I ask you to clarify a few things with the current lap sim setup Max?

Firstly, I remember asking before but a) can't remember what you answered and b) want to double check. How is the lap sim applying a DRS drag offset? I think you said it was a flat Cd offset that was the same for every car?

Secondly, how are we feeling about the interpolation on the website based lap time estimator? I know you made some adjustments but again I don't recall what limits you raised the interpolation to.

The DRS question is particularly interesting for the sake of the next two races and what drag numbers I try to achieve.

Cheers.

No DRS effects are being used for this year or last year.

I didn't actually end up changing anything as I ran out of time over the winter, so same as last year. Looking at the data for the first 2 races, the error does increase as you get higher CLs but for most teams it's around 1% laptime. Just a little extra challenge for the guys at the top :)

Hi all,

sadly my time has been very limited in the last months as some things changed in the beginning of the year. Therefore I will not be able to sustain my participation in this championchip anymore. I can't even find the time to fix my scruti issues, so car development will be zero for this year. To avoid confusion and using up sim time I would like to withdraw my car from the upcoming races.

I hope to be racing with you again in the future and will try to follow your developments, but for now I have to wish you all a close competition in the rest of 2024, keep pushing!

Cheers,

That's sad indeed, especially with the promising car you had in your hands.
But I understand your position. I'm using so much time and energy just to inch forward...

Yes, very sad news. This is one super time consuming hobby.
But, I do hope, you learned, enjoyed and will be back one day.

Here are finally the CFD results, after I had to take some time off on my side:

These should help to understand how hard the rear wings were working in Monaco.

Hello guys, I've just submitted my model for the first time (i know im 2 races late). One link wasnt working properly, so I uploaded in the dropbox link. My team name is Typhoon Dynamics Racing. I just wanted to let know about it!
Thanks!!

Welcome welcome! Looking forward to seeing what you've submitted 😀

I'll hopefully have some R03 renders ready tomorrow. I'm still trying a few last minute changes out, but I haven't made as much progress as I'd have liked.

I'm also taking a bit of a risk on which downforce level to run, the laptime calculator seems to favour taking drag off as much as possible at the rate I'm able to achieve with regard to the Cl sacrifice, but trying to factor in the error present on the calculator at higher Cl complicates the equation.

I'll probably end up around -4Cl/Cd but I won't give away the headline figure just yet.

The main link was indeed not working but that is fixed now.
Good thing is, you found out what the backup link is for and it did it's work.
