Really good considering the issue in quali. Well done max
Say what now? He destroyed his own floor, therefore ruining his chances for pole position. I don't think that is a job well done tbh.
I wont blame him at all.. they sent him out late, and it started raining. It's not the race, it's quali, so they are meant to drive it 'on the edge' anyway.

Do you know how much the best sector2 time for VER with damaged floor, was slower than the best sector2 time in overall quali (by RUS) ?
+0.08
Sector1 he was slower by 0.152
Sector3 he was slower by 0.185

I think that tells a lot. The RB20 still is a monster in sector2.

How all this will translate into the race tomorrow (wet race), starting from P4 in the spray, is unpredictable. But for the way all the cars are setup with their chosen DF levels, the RB20 driven by VER, is blitzing it in sector2.

Here's a link to the interview with Christian.

RBR might aswell throw a new set of components in the back of Perez and take his penalty now rather than later on in the season. He's P19 anyhow ahead of a 50place grid drop for Gasly, so nothing at all to lose.
Iirc Perez is only on his 3rd Power unit ?

The team is run professionally and it’s foolish to think they did not have a spare new spec floor. I thought that question was stupid showing how much a pain Max is to Sky.

Not sure, if they put a 4th in it would be same as Gasly no?

Quite a bit yeah. Not the 9tenths Marko alluded to. Lets see what happens in the race.

In the DRS zones they are equal in top speed. It's only without DRS where they are slower.

For the time loss along the straights, it's likely that the floor damage was costing corner exit speed which carries all along the straight.

I am just hoping they have a good floor and tomorrow will show speed, the season is still very long.

Check the 9-10-11-12 in the same trace. RB20 significantly faster in the high speed, despite damaged floor. In every single slow or medium speed corner in this trace (I dont think it's going to be any different even if NOR is added to this trace) , VER is braking late and having poor exit. I don't know whether that has anything to do with damaged floor (if the aero balance was ruined by the floor, the 9-10-11-12 would've looked bad anyway) , or is just a case of having a poor car in slow speed that refuses to rotate.

Top speed looks the same it's just compromised exits losing time down the straights.
Max went off track in Turn 9 and sustained damage that was around 100 points of downforce. The mechanics did what was possible in this short time in terms of repair.

For the rest, we made some adjustments to the wing settings and so we were able to reduce the damage to around 20 percent for the final part of qualifying. And then P4 is thrilling."

If you repair most of it and bring it to 20, a 20 point downforce loss is around 1/1.5 tenths, considering that the new floor Marko said is worth 10 points or in his words half a tenth. So a P3 could have been on the cards.

Think that Marko undersold it. 0.025s per point is about right

So by that calculation Max would have a tenth on George and had a pole position

Could have been, if not for getting caught out by the rain, and also in that moment, he almost made it to stay on the asphalt. Agh.
