FP2 Rear wing. Notice there is no downward slant accross the top of the wing.

Qualifying ... Notice how the top of the rear wing slants down for the last 15 cms to the outside. They didn't run the same rear wing in Quali/FP3 as they did in FP2, when they did the long runs. One would hope that this is because it gives them better balance and therefore better long runs. You can also see there is more space above and below for the aramco lettering. The FP3/Quali rear wing is taller.

He had the pace, sure. Does this comfort you in light of his starting position? For me, it's not much of a consolation. At least the car looks significantly better.
No, it doesn't. It's sad to see that position.

My point is that it's not his fault at all. Without all that avoidable mess and the team mistake, he would've been top five, almost sure.
Yeah, I also happen to think his fate was sealed once he was on the track.
What I was trying to imply - in an ambiguous and rather salty fashion, I admit - is that thing like this rarely happen to Stroll. (Although I'm not following him closely enough, contrary to Fernando). The team has no interest in sabotaging either driver, so the fault must lie with Fernando's side of the garage, everyone included. First and foremost the engineers, but a driver of Fernando's caliber and charisma should take leadership and be more confrontational because the team is known to make poor decisions. I understand it has rarely helped him in the past, but things like what we saw today could be prevented. Fingers crossed for better luck tomorrow.
I don't think so. Q1 and Q2, they asked Alonso to wait for stroll to go... check the on board camera of Alonso. So not sure if the entire team behind this or not.

Think it was just Stroll's turn to go first.
Not sure he could have caught Hulk anyways. He might have gotten as high as 7th. Gonna come down to race pace anyways. Alonso will certainly pass Stroll on race pace. The Ferraris, Hulk and Albon are wild cards. I wouldn't sweat it.

Alonso has been unlucky this season with starts. Always someone blocking or getting sandwiched somewhere

Pace is not terrible compared to last couple of races. Hopefully some rain could mix things up.

Alonso needs to be more aggressive ffs. Losing so much time behind Stroll and Hülkenberg

It turns out Aston is just slow, the wing is not loaded enough or there is not enough df

Hmm, Alonso ignored the command to pit and said "maybe one more lap". lets see if Stroll undercuts him or not

Fernando has track position, but of course they pit Stroll first. Shame on this team!
