Don't know why people are talking about pace in the last stint. The car was behind on every tyre, the reason Max was faster in the end is because he was on tyres two steps harder on an abrasive circuit against softs.

Yup, it was just a very good strategy call (and a very poor one from McLaren).

Soft would have made the distance when they swapped. Easily. Only difference was a non rubbered track and effectively ‘green’ after the showers.

You can't win championships with a car that only works for 1 stint each race

We can't say it worked in the final stint. They were just on a better tire. I have no doubt that if Mclaren and Merc were on hards, Ver would not have taken 2nd.

Quite a strange performance today. Nowhere in the first stint in dry, picks up pace in wet and then fastest in third stint. Seems like they moved the balance to work in late race. I thought it should have been an easy race for Max today after the floor change.

Maybe a parting gift like Binotto gave the SF23 to Scuderia? Albeit this one is still quite fast

Now that I have had time to take a deeper look, the car performance for much of the race was simply revolting. Caught on lap 24 by Sainz in an Imola spec Ferrari. There must be an answer in Hungary.

Max had the same performance in Austria as in Miami. RB were caught by Mclaren due to upgrades and now Mercedes. Ferrari downgraded their car.
