No. He can get #105 in HungaryPlatinumZealot wrote: ↑07 Jul 2024, 23:33Alright. This win is enough for the year for me. No matter what else happens, I think I can be satisfied with LH's last year with Merc. The silverstone win at home is as good as it's going to get! I suggest the moderators should close close the thread now till 2025.
These are all LH tracks for sure but if Merc is back (which I think they might be) then they are in the mix for the rest of the season. Have to factor in George's favorite tracks too.
Theoretically, if the W16 is able to challenge for WDC/WCC, why would Toto put an 18 year old rookie in the 2nd seat? Not even Verstappen was put in that situation. Difficult for me to fathom, even with a potential elite talent.

I think part of it is their new front suspension component. I think it has helped them broaden the setup window tremendously. The rest is just constant cohesive development for weeks and weeks now. Marginal gains everywhere and each part correlating with their sim tools and adding performance.
You only need one good driver to challenge for WDC. They already have it. Besides, it's potentially going to be a 3 horse race anyway. Considering it's zero in season development for W16, whatever they come out with in preseason testing is mostly what is going to be raced through the year. Mercedes needs to plan for future and it's not a bad idea to put a rookie in 2025, if they think he is ready. They don't have great choices other than a prima donna Sainz that's harmful for team dynamics. If not a rookie, they can try Yuki if he is available. Fast, maturing and can be a good second driver without a lot if fuss. They can offer one year and then see what options develop for 2026.
