Haas VF-24

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Definitely not elegant but it gets the job done.

Huge overbite. Probably the biggest.

Swan neck mounts also look...inovative :D very low, barely going over the top side...almost as they are chopped :?

Usually they connect on the top side high from above to cause less disturbance to the leading edge and low pressure side, but this is some new thinking.

Hm, with new you mean old? They looked like this before swan necks were introduced.

Off course, but in 'swan neck era' I haven't seen something like this. Maybe because this is a twin support system, not like a single on which goes more over the top.

Better view with DRS actuator on.

Analysis of Haas upgrades :

A lot of things would have to go good for Haas and bad for their competitors...

That's quite an interesting design of wing support they're using, appears considerably different in flow terms and interpretation to other teams.

I'd bet there'll be other design department looking closely at that, then testing in their own framework.

Looks like it would fundamentally change sensitivity of yaw characteristic over both surface of rear wing.

Looked pretty effective from the running so far, interesting to see further circuits and on both cars in assessment of gains.

Haven't paid enough attention to haas's rear wing structure, but the connection to the gearbox and the removal of the swan neck is similar to the F175 and early SF23.

Monza rear wing, photo by formu1a.uno. Same one used in Spa, so we may see a flap cutout at some point

And they call it a stall. A STALL!
