Heat management is a mix of ambient temperature, percent throttle over the lap (how hard engine works) and the average speed of the track (aero efficiency you need).

Can you see it now? It`s all about the last 10 laps of the race :D ...
That’s the hard tyre vs the soft tyre. The hard tyre was the superior tyre to be on in the end. With Norris and Hamilton on hards in the final stint, Max would make no gains.
Nope! The H tyre was just the optimum tyre at those track conditions and more so setup choice only for RB20, in order to enter into the tyre optimum working range, even though this tyre was almoast 1 sec/lap slower. They based their conclusion down to the first stint on M tyre when they overheat them and VER was slowing down just to decrease the thermal deg and wearing sooner hence the need for more stops. Had he opted for the S tyre he'd face a more drastically situation than NOR, coz his car was set up for the dry conditions and the H tyre ... Why it's so hard to comprehend those logical things for you?
These setup conclusions about the Red Bull, are they backed up be any statement by the team or driver or are they your own?

Shovlin said in the debrief that the hard tyre was the best tyre to be on at that stage of the race. Not that we needed him to say it, since it was obvious that either the medium or hard were way better than the softs, given both Verstappen’s and Piastri’s pace. Hence, had Mercedes fitted them, they would be even quicker than they were at that stage on the softs.

There was reference from RB about being too light on front wing to start the race. Thought they said after that they put 4 "klicks" into front wing at stops to rebalance the loading and bring more bite to front end.

Likewise, thought Lewis had selected more load than George for Q (comment on here as to this being excuse for 2nd) but come that rain you could see tgat choice being effective for him as he passed GR.

Then could you explain why they fit softs to HAM`s car or you missed that part of Shovlin`s debrief?

Er, because they thought that was the right choice, but were proven wrong instantly…? How is this not clear?

Shov said the hard tire was the right one to be on, they fitted the soft because they thought it would give Lewis a quick warm up on his outlap to take the lead but they didnt expect the hard to be "so good"

Ironically, picking the soft is what forced Mclaren to make a mistake on tyre choice. If they went hard I'm certain Norris would have gone medium.

I'm surprised either of them went for it tbh considering how bad the deg was during the long runs in free practice

Some conclusions on the latest progress of W15 in the eyes of funoanalisitecnica-com

- The engineers worked a lot on the transition between slow and high-speed corners and the key factor was finding a good balance to the W15. A base on which to work by widening the aerodynamic map of the floor.
- The big problems at the beginning of the season, especially in the fast corners, seem to have been resolved with the newly designed front wing that debuted at the Monaco Grand Prix.
- The majority of the upgrades were introduced between Miami and Monaco, revisiting the edges of the fund and above all its weight which was reduced.
- Furthermore, as we saw for the RB20, the SIS, the crucial area for flow control, has undergone the greatest changes and has consequently allowed more load generation, without compromising on the heights from the ground.
- The department dedicated to vehicle dynamics managed to maximize the set-up of the new push-rod model, thus being able to explore and access more extreme and profitable settings.
- Another key factor was knowing how to perform tasks well in the factory, and then not having unpleasant surprises on the track showing the inability to hit the weekend on a technical level (aka correlation between the WT, CFD, and the track)

What he was implying but missed out on telling us, coz it`s obvious from the race strategy point of view was that the soft tyre has the biggest grip and it`s the best tyre when you need to undercut someone, which was HAM`s case who need to build a big gap to NOR to make that the undercut work. In the end, he was just lucky with NOR`s bad pitstop but I argue even if HAM was landing second after NOR`s pitstop on softs that he could pass him due to a better car setup for the dry conditions and already taken a full lap warmup ...

Toto Wolff has downplayed expectations in Hungary which means they are going to lock out the front row and win at a canter according to my Toto decoder

Mercedes has taken pole at the Hungaroring in both 2022 and 2023. This year they may have the race pace to back it up. Upgrades are expected this weekend as well.

I see no reason why not. The car is top 2 on the grid in medium and slow speed corners, and quite good at high recently

Because it's going to be over 30C and they've only been competitive when track temps have been very low so far this year, is one argument you could make against it
