Red Bull RB20

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Front wing and nose completely new, nose tip more rounded, wing scoop slightly reprofiled, outboard angle adjusters

Hungary

Monaco (same high-load spec)

Is the new wing's bottom most element having 'downwash', or is it an optical illusion that my eyes are getting fooled by ?

Behind Halo inlets are gone
As per F1TV, there's new inlets below the airbox behind the driver's head instead.

First element often features negative angle (or positive angle in aerospace nomenclature). Think of slats on aircraft wings and why they point down instead of up

Also because of relative angle of attack, the rear wings angle of attack isn't necessarily parallel to the ground, as the engine cover draws some of the air downwards

I expected a new front wing for Hungary given timelines involved in the front wing flexing saga. Let's see if it flexes more than previous wings I guess

Front wing has a squarish middle section (perhaps a difference in twist angle between the center and outboard sections of the mainplane)

Yes they are. I was a bit amazed nobody is talking about them until you posed. They are quite clever inlets. They suck in low quality air at a high pressure. It may be these inlets that void the necessity of the halo gulleys

The inlets behind the driver were quite large, where has that cooling capacity gone?
It’s behind the driver still but between the center air box support structure. Carlo Platella on twitter posted these images.

Weren't these inlets behind the driver always there?

Yes but they're now rotated by 90 degrees and eliminated need for the gutters
