Wache: "The more you push on development, the more tricky the behavior of the machine can become. It's clear that we can improve the stability of the car for both drivers. We are still able to develop, otherwise we won't bring updates. Performance doesn't just come from downforce gain, but how the rider can use it. We are working on this and we have a lot of room for improvement."
Alternating the new bonnet according to the tracks? It's a possibility, it will depend on your cooling needs. Let's try to have the fastest car on every track.

so Waché is saying the alternating bonnet depends on cooling needs, while yesterday Dr Obbs said that they will be switched depending on low vs high downforce; the two things may be correlated, a high downforce track will have low medium speed, so lower pressure in cooling system hence more cooling required ? who knows

Hungary, Singapore requires lot of cooling as AR3 pointed out.

Tracks with long straights are typically good for cooling. Low downforce - usually long straights - less cooling and different engine cover.

I would trust Wache over Dr Obbs who I've got muted on Twitter for his constant false information on red bull upgrade packages

On long runs, the updated car looks slightly slower than old car, particularly S3.

[Edit] The new package seems to be draggier than the old one. Max is consistently slower on straights vs Perez, both on one lap and also on long runs.

Interesting that lobato. Spanish commentator for f1 was saying

"2 different teams have told me that Red Bull was forced by the FIA to change its car, leading to a performance loss"

Did this person also say it was some suspension related? There is already an unsubstantiated rumor running around regarding the suspension. It is kinda hard to benchmark in any case -- you can only compare RB to RB in order to understand performance and the only thing that's clear is RB haven't had the best car for 7 races. It could simply be because McLaren found a lot of lap time.

Max's pace on medium was pretty good, also deg wise; Checo's was good too, maybe even too good, I think he was on lower fuel; or maybe the updated car is slower lol

I don't buy this at all. RB performed badly in Australia, the signs were there from the start of the season.

The race in China, they were ahead of everyone again, even with the Japanese upgrade from the week previous.

Then in Miami Red Bull brought 1 upgrade, it altered its floor edge by removing a support from the FEW. https://www.sportskeeda.com/f1/news-202 ... ought-what

That was the race where Mclaren brought their brand new upgraded car and were faster on pace and won. They were helped alright by the safety car but Max had no answer to the pace on the last stint, which has been seen in every race since then. This performance has stayed relatively the same since then, with Mclaren and Mercedes bringing more performance while RB bring small alterations.

For the entire weekend or might we see them with the same configuration tomorrow?
