I don't know where comments like Red Bull will win easily are coming from. Red Bull have had a pace deficit to others over the last ~7 odd weekends in the races averaged over the stints. If they simply fix that deficit with better tire degradation and are just matching others pace, races will be far more entertaining and down to minor details. This should be more doable as pure pace wise everyone is basically near about there.

Just look at Checo in FP1/2 and Red Bull’s praise for the new upgrade. We’re back to their early season form most likely, Max will blow everyone away this weekend and Perez will finish on the podium.

As Marko mentioned yesterday, McLaren are the only team that are in any way close.
Do you remember Perez being P3 in FP2 in Silverstone?
That was a one off soft-tyre lap done at the end of the session after everyone else, at no point did he look good outwith that. Yesterday he looked consistently better than he has since the start of the season over both one lap and the race sims.

I'd say this is a McLaren and Red bull scrap (Norris vs Verstappen). Mercedes and Ferrari look frankly undriveable at least in quali runs.

Mercedes have a few favorite tracks: Catalunya, Silverstone, and Hungaroring. They will likely be fine by the time qualifying rolls in.

I spoke too soon on Mercedes. I broke my own rule of freaking out at one bad run :P

Hamilton is no where. No confidence in the car. After last week this is going to be painful at this rate he'll be out in Q2 :(

I swear being a fan of him is a high followed by pain in the last few years

McLaren have both race and quali sorted out in terms of pace. Curious to see how their operations go this weekend.

Shame really as this is one of his backyard tracks but theres no doubt he's on the backfoot, the car looks scrappy in his hands.

Max's long run on the hard in FP3

23.071
22.937
23.048
23.146
23.083
23.583
23.352
23.458
23.054

About ties in with the middle sector of 2023 here. Maybe a few tenths faster.
