Oscar only did the outlap and boxed, Lando did a push lap and aborted last sector.

You get a free soft for Q3 anyway.. but im hoping they use it to get two new soft runs in q3

These tyres have two runs on them in Hungaroring. Many cars would improve on second run (probably due to track evolution)

But sending them out on new softs shows that McLaren still doesn't trust that the car is one of the fastest.

As are Merc on used. It's immaterial, we'll be through to Q3 easily.

Btw Piastri was almost caught out in Q1, he was sent out but it was much later than Verstappen. I think he didn't make the time to start the lap.

Having only one set of new softs could bite Norris in the ass. All as a consequence of team making a very conservative decision in Q1 (sending them out on a new soft a second time).

Hard to decide whether to go on new softs early or late. Probably better to go late but you risk it with the rain. Piastri should lock down P1 in the first run and let's see what happens at the end.
