Mercedes W15

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Alisson at work; he’s come to understand big upgrade packages in this era are probably not advisable.

Exactly. It seems Ferrari brought 2 big upgrades expecting massive gains just because there were lots of new parts. But it's ended up causing issues may because of the way parts interact or things that didn't appear in the wind tunnel (bouncing).

Mercedes appear to be bringing smaller upgrades with incremental gains. This helps them understand the upgrade and its effects on other parts fully which might help inform future upgrades. By doing this, they might actually have a better development rate than other teams as they have to wait and fix their issues that they introduced with big upgrade packages.

In this era where the whole car is so closely linked, these sort of upgrades might be the best way forward as someone mentioned above.

Updates, not Upgrades.

There are differences, but some may be circuit specific, some may be baseline.

Wasn't the extreme chassis in an X, rather than a T?
If they have a T now, they had an X in 2022 and 23 if I am not mistaken

Every team has them. Same problem for all teams.
