Ignoring FP1, with the rain tomorrow... will probably be a difficult weekend for us, short of a miracle.

Why was the S3 time so insanely bad? Engine mode shenanigans?
Considering S2, probably drag same as S1

Long lap. 2 tenths in Hungary is 4 here.

Still fight for 3rd or 4th best but Charles saying "That is so much better" after his 1st push on 2nd soft, is at least positive.

True, and right now, the long runs actually look pretty good.

McLaren and RB are miles faster.
The goal is to beat Mercedes.

It's absolutely insane, man. It's been years that Ferrari drivers are asking for insane adjustments even during the race. It shouldn't be like this.

It's impressive how it took them 2 upgrades to turn a car that had a pointy front and light rear into an understeering truck.

I think the og car was quite well-balanced + very consistent and in fact both Sainz and Leclerc were able to adapt their style without major issues (outside Leclerc struggling over one lap pace)

The understeer must be terrible. Leclerc just kept going up and up in clicks during that session. It sucks that the car is so opposite to what he prefers.

I wonder what Sainz was using.

Despite this it was a relatively positive session overall, but I'm still apprehensive about having too much hope with the rain coming tomorrow.

Could be because of the low drag front wing they brought here. I don’t think it’s anything to shout about.

Understeer is costly around here.
Besides, the complaint is mostly about them building understeery cars year after year, some to an outrageous extent (the SF90). Even those that started out pointy would eventually end up understeery (SF24, F1-75)

Leclerc is terrible in the last chicane. The slow speed understeer is probably killing him there.

It's killer, cuz the biggest reason Mclaren and Mercedes improved so much is that they've drastically improved their front end turn-in behavior. Usually having that kind of transformation in behavior would have required a whole chassis rethink as a compromise, but these teams have achieved these radical improvements in performance without any other compromises.

Cant stress enough how unheard of this kind of situation is. It really does seem like there's some trick that Ferrari(and even Red Bull) are missing in this regard. The turn-in responsiveness between Ferrari/RB and Mclaren/Mercedes is incredibly noticeable. Red Bull makes up for it with amazing performance elsewhere, but Ferrari just isn't great anywhere where there's an aero load. Hence why they're now 4th best.
