Think this is the first time that when the chips are really down at the end of the race for the lead, George didn't bin it. That man did insane things with the tyres today.

So.

Folks here have for years slated Vettel for his 2014 results against Ricciardo.

When do we hear these same remarks about 2024 with Russell doing the same to Hamilton? 🤔

Wow amazing win from George there but no idea how Lewis didn't make the difference in tyre life work out of turn one
It seems the dirty air was strong today. There was not much passing throughout.
A combination of shorter DRS, high deg and hot temps played a part. Overtaking wasn't easy today. Look at how Norris couldn't pass Verstappen on fresher tyres. Who would have thought a one stop would have worked
Yea very odd how hard it was for people to overtake today, good call by Russell

True but an 18 lap difference in tyres wear I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Eau Rouge resurface helped people sling shot and stay ahead.

Whats with this crappy audio?

0,5 difference before Eau Rouge! DRS…no pass!

Yeah probably George had some other engine mode Hamilton didn’t have!

This doesn’t make any sense…

Well done by George. A typical high risk high reward scenario. Had no way of winning the GP on pace other than hoping for the tyres to hold on.

Surprising though that more teams didn’t go longer on their tyres as they all said they held on, but that’s what you get when someone starts the pit cycle early and forces everyone to respond.

😂

In terms of race pace, Lewis was way ahead. GR was nowhere, hence the Hail Mary. It was purely an inspired strategy call that won this, with various factors aiding that call, like the drs, temps, and everyone stuck

Am I the only one seeing that Lewis is just protecting George until the final lap so they can get the 1,2?

Because nobody else seems to see it…
Exactly, that was clear as day in lap 42 ..

Lewis was in clean air and Russell was stuck in a DRS train. So the race pace comment is unfair.

I’m not sure he did. It was obvious that the tyre had insane life, as everyone could drop the management early in the stints, and it was almost impossible to pass with the shorter DRS zone. It was a good call, but a lot of luck involved. A strange race.

Any fighting between the two of them would have led to a Merc 2-3

Right, comparing someone in clean air and in traffic with DRS trains is the right way to judge race pace.

In the end, GR did what he had to win, kudos to GR.
