I’m sure George is swearing excessively right now, and probably will continue to do so for some time… :D

Sadly, I guess no one would hear it and won't make him famous like it did to some other driver a week ago.

It's a pitty for Russel, i don't want to be in his shoes and a mega clusterf*ck from MB.
That's why Toto wasn't in the celebration and was on phone strangely in a seat somewhere?

That's a mega drive and mega race awareness and management skills there from George. =D>

He schooled everyone with those qualities today. No swearing, shouting or any of that nonsense. Great job.
Yes amazing from George, also check the latest F1 news
Has something changed? Was he swearing excessively as per the latest F1 news or was it some other race that he took a bold strategy call and churn out a brilliant performance?

If it's about car weight issue, do you think Max was responsible for cost cap breach that gave unfair advantage to Red Bull in 2021/22?
I meant that he was disqualified. Which you didn't acknowledge in your original post

To me George's drive is just typical of him: he looks to gamble on a SC/alternate strategy/rain when he's not competitive with Lewis on the same strategy. This was one instance where it did pay off but I can remember a lot of weekends where he lost a lot of points in those attempts.

No he was talking to Susie, celebrating the 1-2

Have they weighed all cars in the top 10?

Yup, true Hail Mary strategy.

Good gamble by George, nice driving, Lewis was flubbing T1 for some reason.

That said, minimum weight is the first rule rules makers write in just about every racing series ever. There is no grey area here. If the scales are calibrated, and the procedure for weighing is followed, it doesn’t matter if you’re .25kg under or 100kg under, the result is a dq every time.

You could argue it’s tire degradation, George not picking up enough marbles, whatever, but the outcome is the same. If you want to fly that close to the sun, then you better have all your ducks in row and recognize you might get burned if you screw up in the slightest amount.

With George being under, you could argue being slightly lighter is why he had enough to hold enough Lewis in the last 2-3 laps. His car was a little quicker off the corners. Sure 2kg isn’t a lot, but it’s a series where every ounce matters. Probably still wins at legal weight, but you can’t not look at his performance without that asterisk

All cars get weighed. Only select few get additional checks.

Aye it’s the first time I can think of where one of Russell’s on the fly has worked, and there was no other option really. Everyone apart from Russell looked underwhelmed afterwards, probably thinking, there was a win there, why didn’t we do that. No one expected Pirelli to bring a WEC tyre…

Since they were in Parc Ferme, did they have the same checks after qualifying?

The original notice from the FIA mentions explicitly that after the first fuel drain, that the car was exactly at the right weight to pass. Interesting choice of words.

This seems somewhat fortuitous, right? They took some of the fuel and what was left took them exactly to the weight limit.

Apologies if this has been asked already.

I dont see today as any different than Hungary now that I think about it.

Lead driver gets worse tyre strategy due to team doing what they can to cover other teams and maximise points, and second driver ends up leading on a track where you can't overtake easily without a large enough delta. The tyres didn't provide enough delta and George's downforce setup effectively negated the DRS.

Difference here is the lack of acknowledging the gifted track position to the second driver due to their performance on the tyres, which didn't seem to be the actual difference maker in the race.
No, difference is in Hungary Piastri never wanted to pit 2 laps after Lando. Here it was Russel's call for one stop.

If I'm Lewis Hamilton, the side eye from me is going to be unreal.

Because if this track had a cool down lap and George pickup up rubbish on his tyres and passed the weigh in, it means I went through quali and the race with near 2KG more weight on.my car than my team mate did, still qualified better, raced better and got a win taken from me without me ever noticing....if not for the lack of cool down lap.....

And I'd need to know why immediately.
Mate, it's impossible to pickup 1.5kg of rubber with 4 tyres in one lap.
Actually what I heard for this thema over the years, 1,5 kg would be my assumption.

The car was exactly at the limit before any fuel was removed. The scrutineers then removed 2.8 litres, but didn't drain the car completely because they already had the 1 litre sample ("as TR Article 6.5.2 is fulfilled").
