I think the sample was given but they didn't drain the car completely as it would be underweight. Someone tried to hide it.

BAR had a special separate tank which they used to cheat the system. The current issue is a simple under weight cock-up.Peter Piper wrote: ↑28 Jul 2024, 19:31BAR were banned for two races for what appears to be exactly the same behaviour.
No, Horner is putting weight behind the theory it was due to the 1-stop/the loss is due to tyre excessive wear. Fuel is not on the cards as a reason behind today’s proceedings.Hammerfist wrote: ↑28 Jul 2024, 20:20So Horner thinks they made a mistake with the amount of fuel they ran. I always thought that the car was weighed after the fuel sample is given to the FIA. Never knew the tank had to be drained completely. Who is correct here?
Why are they asking Horner? Oh, right, he's always up for a media chat about other teams.Hammerfist wrote: ↑28 Jul 2024, 20:20So Horner thinks they made a mistake with the amount of fuel they ran. "The car was not fully drained according to the draining procedure submitted by the team in their legality documents as TR Article 6.5.2 is fulfilled."Just_a_fan wrote: ↑28 Jul 2024, 20:22BAR had a special separate tank which they used to cheat the system. Big difference.

Not only was it underweight, but the fuel was also not drained by the team in the way that they had declared. An unfortunate coincidence?
Today Russell most likely benefitted from having a lighter car than Lewis, how much lighter, we dont know. Hamilton had very good race pace compared to the other teams, he just went for two stops instead of one like RussellTeamKoolGreen wrote: ↑28 Jul 2024, 20:37It would have been the second race this season that Russell started behind hamilton and finished ahead of him. And yet some ppl will point to the points gap and say hey , race pace bro. George has bad race pace
Dude, we're tired of the repeat sound track. Want to talk could've, should've, etc.? No one screwed Russell but his side of the garage or perhaps it was a team-wide conspiracy to weight the scales in George's favor.TeamKoolGreen wrote: ↑28 Jul 2024, 20:37It would have been the second race this season that Russell started behind hamilton and finished ahead of him. This!erudite450 wrote: ↑28 Jul 2024, 20:39Mercedes communication is poor. They didn't bother to tell Hamilton that he was racing Russell when it became obvious. Immediately, Piastri pitted, they should have told Hamilton that Russell was going to the end. They allowed him spend the half of the last stint pacing himself against Leclerc and later Piastri.
Same thing happened in Austria when they told him to do a normal outlap to bring the tyres in gently even though the undercut was on.
I hope Hamilton gives Peter Bonnington and the strategy an earful in the debrief. He has been as professional as a driver can be considering he's leaving the team, even going as far as given up position willingly in Suzuka but the team are not living up to their part.
