Alonso + Newey
My childhood dream could finally become true
Unfortunately to late ,Alonso not young anymore and we see it at his performance, and how much mistakes he make compared to last year's.Hard to keep focus and fit at 24 Race in one season. Maybe can be fast as Stroll, Albon,Riccardo,Hulk but not fast as VER,Norris etcetera.

With a good car it will be much easier for him, Stroll will be better also in races.

I think top level people have a general idea. F1 is a small, insular, incestous community where people talk. If a team is struggling especially, word gets around. Hamilton has said how much Ross Brawn and Niki Lauda convinced him to join Mercedes by telling him they were goin to be good. Merc was a midfield car like AM at the time. Helmut Marko very confidently predicted the pecking order for the new '22 aero regs. AM's very own wind tunnel numbers were the talk of the off season last year.

Doesnt mean exact performance levels are known or things cant deviate when they move from simulation to real life testing but information definitely flows in the paddock.
Yeah, I gonna spend millions on R&D. Then leak it for free to the paddock.
They're not leaking technical drawings and actual figures. Nobody ever claimed that. Broad strokes. Which happens in every industry, especially ones as small as F1 where people have personal connections working for competitors.
Doesn't matter, why would you want to give the opposition any information. I see disinformation as being more likely. Their jobs, bonuses and livelihood are on the line.

This is the downside of being in a design team with Newey attached.

If Newey announces that he Aston bound and then Aston build a decent car to start 2025, even assuming Newey isn't there by the start of the season, the assumption will be that Newey has had some secret input and not that the Aston design team did it on their own.
Don't you think that almost always where Newey is or gonna be, suddenly the team rises? Is that a coincidence? Suddenly the team current designers get epiphany from god and do things right? I don't think so.

Well, the last time Adrian Newey changed teams was to RBR in 2006 and it took more than 3 years to start winning races. When he joined Williams in 91, Williams was already a dominate team. It was really only at McLaren that he turned the team around the year he got there and then started dominating in his 2nd year.
Torro Rosso already won mid 2008

F1 and the people working in this circus are an own little island. As there are not many teams some engineers have already worked for half of the paddock and you stay connected. There are connections everywhere.

A team of AMR members played a football match recently against a Mercedes team.

It's not like someone is leaking data. Just the normal social environment. And naturally it's harder to hear a lot of gossip from Sakura in Japan as from Brackley or Woking.

I don't give it any merit.

Monza. Yeah. Miracle drive in the wet by Vettel.

You can try and count that but Newey worked for RBR and not STR. They even had different engines. They didn't share many parts back then.

so in the last 6 months since his drive in brazil (that was at the end of a long season), and multiple podiums last season, and he is now only as fast as stroll? haha i find that hard to believe

Only the chronically pessimistic Alonso fans can make Newey signing for Aston Martin or Honda works deal bad news. My goodness!

We get it, some have PTSD after 10 years of pain. No longer trusting after having been mistreated so much, like a beaten dog. But if Newey is confirmed Alonso will probably have the highest odds of winning a world championship since 2007

Newey a positive thing, but Honda I'm not sure, because we see that the Mercedes engine pretty damn good in the McLaren especially since when the FIA something banned on Redbull. What they was doing we don't know, but they did lost a lot of speed and grip.

Ok the teams won 1 race in the wet but finished 6th and 7th in constructors. You could mistaken them for Alpine and Ocon from a couple years ago.

Nah he is still easily top 5,a few races ago people were saying Lewis should retire and Lecerc will murder him.

If Newey give Alonso a car that can fight for podiums, Alonso (even at his age) and race pace will be a points scoring machine.
Like ive said before, if everyone had equal cars is think max, Alonso, and Hamilton would be faster than the pack with their tyre managment and ability to drive consistant lap times. Norris and Max, Lecerc may have more raw Q pace, but Norris especially Lecerc arent that consistant. Overall Max has great raw pace and race pace.

Redbull, McLaren and Williams were not Ferrari economically, despite this Newey dominated
