Liberty Media Facing Anti-Trust Probe

Post

Liberty Media has announced that it is facing an investigation by the US Department of Justice over rejecting Andretti Global's Formula 1 bid.

Can Andretti finally get into F1's exclusive club?

Hope it will hurt properly for Liberty Media.

Sure the sport needs to upkeep a certain quality but it shouldn't be a totally closed elite group. Andretti and others of a certain caliber should be allowed entrance, as the FIA already concluded.

the well is being poisoned. even if andretti wins do they honestly think they can just shoehorn their way into the sport by legal means and still maintain good relations in the paddock?
they will find that the other 10 teams will be ice cold towards them. its one thing to be allowed into the sport, but to sue your way i dont think will bode well for them

That's not how an anti-trust lawsuit works not even close. The US DOJ filed the suit on their own, companies do not file anti-trust lawsuits through the DOJ when they cant compete with their competitors. Live Nation is already in hot water with the DOJ for their Ticketmaster monopoly which this is right in line with this fiasco. That company has a history of anticompetitive practices and is finally getting taken to court for them.

Don't forget Liberty and F1 are traded on the US stock exchange the DOJ can do as they please with them, this isn't the private boys club it was under Bernie.
