Didn't think it mattered? Maybe not a grid penalty, but at least it should have been looked at and perhaps a reprimand or points on his Superlicence. That was borderline dangerous and just unnecessary given that it WAS only practice.

Mick is just slow and still expecting to ride off his father's name but serious team principal's aren't falling for it.

I'd like to see him for 9 races alongside Albon. We can only judge Mick as he was under a terrible leader. People excel when they are with a good one, and Vowels is 1000x better than Steiner in every regard.

It matters, because the whole reason you can't cross the line is that someone can arrive behind you on a live track with full race speed. In this exact situation, the box was just opened and track was empty so it was very clear that nobody was going to arrive from the track with full speed.

Don't get me wrong, Max clearly crossed the line which is against the rules so I don't have a problem with him getting a penalty for this, but suggesting it was kind of dangerous is a bit excessive.

It was looked at and it was given a warning.

We should all know by now in free practice are never treated the same as in competitive sessions (quali/sprint/race), even when it comes to things involving safety.

For example: impede to your heart's content in FP, even dangerously so, but you won't get penalties for it. Likewise you can do practice starts in the wrong place in FP and get a warning but do it pre-race and that's a penalty

Arguments could be made that this approach is wrong, but current precedent doesn't require a penalty for MV's breach

Do i think Mick should be this option? In my opinion no, but they do need options.

Mick was interviewed on German Sky today, and according to that, Alpine didn't even bother to tell him about chosing Doohan instead. Ralf Schumacher was quite upset, disappointed in Briatore, who he thought was "an old friend of the family", etc, etc.

So if those old Schumacher-ties don't even secure you a phone call anymore, it honestly seems hard to believe that he is much of an option elsewhere. But who knows... a mid-season Williams ride also doesn't really sound like much of a career booster, so interest could be limited.

Jumping into a Williams seat where you'll likely get second hand parts, and going against the established Albon is definitely a big roll of the dice... odds not very good.

But if you manage to run Albon close, don't even need to beat him, it really ups your value and may get others (Audi) attention.

I don't know why Max does that kind of stuff. I wish he didn't so we didn't have to hear the reactions every time.

Anyway tomorrow will be interesting. As Max sees it, he cant afford to lose the start. And the exact same thing is true for Lando. I have to wonder if this friendship can last. Many don't in these cases

yeah, thought so too, especially as it came with a realistic risk of Verstappen not making it to Q3. Hard to see many scenarios where this will pay off in the race.

Probably never had the opportunity to use them in FP, due to rain and lost time due to red flags. They're never going to use both, if any, in the race.
