Leclerc made a good point in the cooldown room. McLaren was running split cars in terms of who had upgrades from FP1 to FP2.

Did both cars have everything new fitted for the race?
Both pilots received an update

Great drive Lando, fastest lap, overtook Max on the road.... I want to believe!!!
We just need Max to have a DNF or two and it will be quite different story.

But the path is clear, Norris should win all the races to the end!
Do not say it, do not wish for it (DNF for RBR) as karma is a bitch and it can happen to us instead of them and we are then busted.

We must win in pure sense, on the track as it should be so we can truly be champions this year.

As satisfying and convincing as the pace was..
Staying humble, grounded and taking it race by race..The results will follow.
Throw the ball back to RBR as the "favourites"

People are blaming Oscar for this race but I don’t think that’s fair. You could see his pace in clean air was as dominant as Norris. I don’t understand why McLaren keeps going for overcuts. It’s not working for them. The car is quick but can’t play out its potential in dirty air. They need to undercut or cover immediately—look at Norris today.

11 laps difference in tire age, on paper should work, but this track maybe was not the best place to do it.

Realistically speaking, Max is still the favorite for the WDC. The gap is relatively big and it's only closable if Lando wins every single race (assuming no DNFS).

With how up and down this season has been, it's quite an unrealistic scenario. But what McLaren can do is deliver when they have the best car like today. If they do the best job they can, then that's the only thing they have within their control. If that gets them both titles, one title, or no title at all, it will depend on how the performance of rivals will pan out over the remaining races.

If Piastri, Mercedes and Ferrari can jump in between Lando and Max, things can be spicy. It can happen on the evidence of the past few races. Lando just have make good use of the machine and McLaren should simply prioritize him over Oscar. Not like the nonsense of Hungary.

Agreed, but DNFs are always a possibility, especially when there’s close racing at the front. One Max DNF + Norris win and the lead goes down to 45 points… So agreed, it’s still very much Max’s to loose, but it’s not big enough of a lead for Red Bull to feel comfortable. And: very real possibility that no one clinches the championship until the final race, something I’m sure F1 is rooting for.

Can McLaren be the fastest car in Monza?
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

If they are it will be much closer than here. Need to see what Ferrari’s upgrades do for them too.

Either way, at least compared to last year, McLaren have a proper low-downforce package this time around.

I still think RBR has the fastest car in straights and fast corners :x so it would be hard to say.

I don't see why not Ground Effect. The newest upgrade improved our DRS also.

No, RB will be faster. Although we can play a lot of time at the chicanes, so we'll see.

It's hard to say ahead of time, but on the straights at Spa McLaren were very fast with the new low downforce package. If it weren't for the mixed rain conditions, McLaren could have done even better. With the updated package, the car has become even faster and now it's clear why McLaren didn't rush to update like Mercedes, for example.

What I can be sure of is that McLaren may have some downforce reserve now, which will allow them to select settings for an even higher top speed. Let's not forget that Red Bull has problems with the resource of power units, and this may affect the speed.
