Max is 70 points ahead. A massive gap for Norris to close but it's possible if RedBull upgrades don't deliver.

If not for McLaren's stupidity in Hungary, that gap could have been 63 points!

Nice drive Lando. Controlled the race very well. Do think it was his to lose after quali but still put it together well.
Wasn't good considering he lost out at the start on a track that track position matters so much on. Are you forgetting how he could well have lost the race there and then if not for their domineering advantage?
Lando and Max had exactly the same reaction time at the start of the race, McLaren clearly have an issue to fix with their starts. Once that's fixed? Could be fireworks between Lando and Max in future races. Lando got his head down and eased his way past Max eventually. It was a very mature drive by Lando.

Redbull are still fast, but they have fallen behind McLaren. Lando finished around 22 seconds ahead of Max. I doubt anyone would have believed Lando could do that at the start of the season.

Didn't you say Lewis would come back stronger after summer break!
Yes. Just a gust of wind put him off in Q3. He was faster than George today and it's looling good for rest of year. George actually is ruing today's result. Hamilton was in P14 and Russ in P3 at different points to only get A couple points on him in the drivers? Not good to beaten by a forty year old in any sport!
Russell isn't being beat by any 40 year old. Not in this race , not in head to head qualifying or race placement. Not in head to head qualifying or race speed.

These are the facts. Russell is ahead in race pace, qualifying pace, race head to heads and qualifying head to heads. And he added to these leads over this weekend. And hamilton fans are getting all haughty because hamilton had an ordinary recovery drive. :D The kind of recovery drive that Russell did all the time in 2023.

Hamilton finishing right behind George after starting 10 places back is embarrassing.
Russell finished ahead of Hamilton in a race that he started behind him in. Thats embarrassing.

Anyway , Russell clock's another qualifying and race finish head to head on hamilton
And yet Hamilton will finish ahead in the championship again.

Speaking of which, Hamilton basically has 4x as many world championships as George has race wins. So I’m sure will be feeling pretty ok about things.

The points the points. Demotivated forty-year olds can't win on Q pace against young hot shots you know?

^ Laughs about basic observable facts.

Using the points gap to try and imply superior race pace on hamiltons part. Nice try. That's called sophistry. 3 DNFs vs one. And in 2 of those DNFs , Russell was ahead of Hamilton. On the pole in Silverstone and crossing the line ahead of him in Belgium.

One thing I thought about with George's last stop, is that Merc actually had to do it to keep George ahead of Lewis.

If George stayed out and created a DRS train while fighting Sainz and Cheo (assuming they couldn't pass easily) Lewis would've been able to use the pace of his softs to get past all of them as he'd have approached all of them much earlier on much fresher and faster soft tyres.

Maybe that is what Mercedes should have done. By putting George ahead of Lewis, they gave Lewis turbulence. George was slower than Lewis in the final stint till Lewis backed off last 2 laps
