It's strange to me that so many are eager to see him fail and have nothing good to say about the Mercedes junior. Not even a full-time F1 driver yet and there's already a crowd rooting against him. He spun because he downshifted at the wrong moment which caused engine braking that made the rear slide. Not a big deal.

Precisely. Given that he’s had a taste of conditions in the F2 practice an hr or so before, Wolff was appropriately careful truthfully with the S run. Just a rookie mistake; expect more if he gets the seat. Simple really.

George Russell once crashed under a safety car. That is not to take away from Russell. It is simply a fact that silly things can happen to even the best drivers.

Look, they have all crashed in silly ways in FP. It’s not good that it happened on his first time but let’s not act like this stuff hasn't happened to all of them.
