McLaren MCL38

What do we have in terms of upgrades for Monza?
From car submission document:
High Cooling Front Brake Duct - circuit specific
New Front Wing Flap - circuit specific
New Sidepod Shape - performance

Not sure why the new rear wing is not listed. Maybe they tested it in a FP in Spa?
Also, new sidepod shape? I didn’t see any difference on the cars shown yesterday. Will keep an eye out on free practice.
But yesterday it seemed to me that the sidepods had become a little different. The waist is more cinched, and in the back part it seems like the slope downwards is a little different.

It's the engine cover specifically. I only noticed the louvres at the time.
McLaren would list that part under engine cover changes as they have done in the past, whereas here they specifically list the sidepod shape as the updated component.

Also, the cooling louvres are not considered an update. They are opened and closed according to the cooling demands of the circuit.
Yeah I mean it's the only thing I could see that had changed.

In the netherlands, the rear is more open, but the louvers on the side are more closed.

In Monza, the rear is less open, but more louvers are open on the side.

Looks to me like they slimmed the area beneath the canon outlet so its more wrapped to the gearbox centerline/ rear crashstructure, which should result in better flow to the central area and increase overall performance

Surprised that the rear wing was not listed as a new development part?

Were they not tested at Spa?

I thought the new wing on the previous page was new to Monza. The spa wing was very different

Good spot. More louvres for cooling at the sides with the rear of the engine cover tightened up.

Is this a new part though or just a previous solution being used here?

I couldn't see the difference before but it's a reasonable amount of space for airflow to the rear.
