i think it is obvious the car is not dominant - it is just consistently competitive with whoever has a fast car that weekend. Hungary was a bit of an outlier where everyone else was terrible
edit, Zandvoort, not Hungary - my bad
It's consistently the best, if not always the fastest.
I'm not sure 14-2 would be described as close in many other battles.Henri wrote: ↑04 Sep 2024, 03:38https://x.com/F1BigData/status/1830981123087761505? Oscas and norris are very close in qualifying this season
I mean average starting position not head to headBen1980 wrote: ↑04 Sep 2024, 09:01I'm not sure 14-2 would be described as close in many other battles.Henri wrote: ↑04 Sep 2024, 03:38https://x.com/F1BigData/status/1830981123087761505? Oscas and norris are very close in qualifying this season
I had to double check k it, I didn't realise it was that one sided.
Oh now I see where you get all this Lando hand-wringing. Toxic "Oh the Humanity!" Cameron and Windsor the "oracle" who thinks F1 should be a team sport like tour cycling where only one rider gets a chance of glory. McLaren are a two driver team, always have been. Bruce and Denny. Denny and Emmo. Niki and Alain. Alain and Ayrton. Mika and DC. Alonso and Hamilton. Hamilton and Button. All winners, no whiners. You can have your Irvine, Barichello rear gunner, paid puppet-driver types. Turn Piastri into a support driver at your peril, and he may become a champion for a rival team. I'm all for throwing your support behind your leading driver when the time is right. That time will be soon if Max continues to bleed. The main changes I'd make is the strategy team - when Randy Singh was given the podium after the Hungary stuff-up I was puking.TeamKoolGreen wrote: ↑03 Sep 2024, 00:59As Peter Windsor rightly said on Cameron F1, the only reason Lando wasn't preparing to defend a lunge from Piastri, was because of what happened in Hungary. If Lando didnt obey team orders in Hungary ,then he would have been prepared for a lunge from Piastri.
So now Lando obeys team orders on Hungery and still gets knifed by his teammate. I said it back then , he shouldn't have obeyed team orders. He'll never get paid back for it. It was all nonsense. Now obeying has cost him 2 wins
Hungary was too early, and they did the correct thing. But after Netherlands they should have gone all in.SiLo wrote: ↑04 Sep 2024, 09:50The ship has sailed to back Lando now unless he has a sudden points swing at the next two races IMO. They could have done it in Hungary and Monza and gained more ground, which also would have put the pressure on Red Bull even more.
They are likely to win the WCC, and it's a team game. I'm sure Oscar won't mind a huge amount at the end of the season.
This... if Ferrari trend continues (why not?) there is no luck for the WCC if Ferrari eats the difference from MCLaren at least. Ok this seems far fetched and we will see in the next rounds.Ben1980 wrote: ↑04 Sep 2024, 09:57Hungary was too early, and they did the correct thing. I still don't think WCC is a given especially if Leclerc enjoys Baku.
Perez has to find form as well, which is highly unlikely.
Ferrari usually is good in Monza and more specifically on lower downforce circuits. They might still be decent in Baku with Leclerc, but I doubt if they can keep up for the rest of the season.bluechris wrote: ↑04 Sep 2024, 10:00This... if Ferrari trend continues (why not?) there is no luck for the WCC if Ferrari eats the difference from MCLaren at least. That's right, the threat for McLaren's WCC comes from Ferrari rather than Redbull (who have only one driver capable of a meaningful points haul). This is not a dismissable prppsition, since Ferrari have updated the floor in Monza, sorting out their bouncing from local loads. The rear suspension on the Ferrari looks supple now.
I don't think so, RB20 has lost direction. They are gropkng in the dark. Summer break isbover too. Even if they find a solution, it will have to be manufactured, tested on track, car has to be setup for it etc. The time left in the season is too small. RBR are in a similar quagmire that Merc found themselves in, for 2 yrs.
