This forum contains threads to discuss teams themselves. Anything not technical about the cars, including restructuring, performances etc belongs here.
It'll be interesting to look at how they structure their staff vis-a-vis the cost cap considering all the big names they have on board now. Clearly Newey will be one of the exempt based on his salary. Krack and Fallows are there. There's Andy Cowell replacing Whitmarsh (dont know if he counts). Then there is Luca Furbatto and Eric Blandin. Tom McCullough and Bob Bell are also there. I imagine all these guys were paid well to come to AM. Some sackings possible?
But to get these people onboard AM had/has to pay considerably more than the previous teams. There were some reports that AM's offers are pretty big.
So, will it be a disadvantage at some point to get them onboard and not being able to operate on the same staff size as other teams?
They just offered them promotions. Cardile was a TD at Ferrari, is now CTO, Fallows was head of aero at RBR is TD at AMR, Newey almost GOD at RBR -> GOD at AMR, etc etc etc.

Cardile's salary at AM is rumoured to be 5-6 times larger than what he had at Ferrari. I don't think it was just promotion

Yeah some of these guys had other teams interested in them too. AM has generally outbid them for their services. I forgot to mention Andrew Green in there as well.

i think mark hughes (if i remember correctly) has reported that the bulk of neweys salary will be paid in equity in the team. if thats the case, it wont be showing up under the cost cap, unless the FIA make some changes in the rules. i would be surprised if hes the only one of their new acquisitions that are being paid like that.
TP seems the most appropriate in my view. An outright full command over the team, while CEO is busy with financial stuff and CTO is taking care of methods and processes in RnD
Schmidt described Newey (according to guys who worked with him) not as an organizer (therefore they have Wache at RBR) but simply as a pure old school car designer, who is sometimes even a bit chaotic. For sure no TP.
I think it doesn't matter how they name his position. If he is directly employeed by AMR or if he has a contract over his own company with AMR (he can have veto power for certain technical things with every contract). Important is that he can unleash his potential and therefore he needs the right environment (engineers and tools).
