I'm betting on Aston Martin to surprise, but Mercedes to win. George Russell.
PZ, I'm ever the eternal optimist but even I won't be placing such a wild bet. I'm not sure what you are having but I want none of it :D :D :D

My prediction :
- the winner will be one of the quickLarens or LeClerc
- if the track is going to be hotter than it has traditionally been (latter half of the season now, as opposed to 3rd or 4th race in previous years), it will be a race of attrition with rear tyre wear. In which case, I can think of leClerc, Hamilton and Verstappen to drive their cars to 99.99% instead of the usual 99% when the grip challenge isn't as scary (in the race, not talking of quali).

it's a good track for Leclerc, but is there any reason to believe that Ferrari has solved its qualifying issues? I honestly would be surprised to see him on Pole.
They haven't had massive issues in qualifying when it's been hot. They competed at Monza in quali for instance.

In 2023 leclerc was 2 tenths clear on pole in both Q3 and SQ3, gapping Sainz by 8 and 6 tenths in each session respectively. In 2022 he stormed to pole by 3 tenths despite RB looking competitive all weekend until Q3 and gapped Sainz by 5 tenths. Pole in 2021 in 3rd or 4th fastest car.. and had his best drive in F2 at Baku. He's just an expert at this track. I think this finesse will overcome the usual Ferrari issues
Last year was a sprint weekend. I think Sainz made a significant mistake with his setup and couldn't fix it properly after FP1. Leclerc is indeed a Baku specialist and i think the sprint WE helped him last year as he was more comfortable than the others from the get-go.

Imagine Monaco this year with only 1 FP session.

Monza was below expectations as well, though. And in Baku it's much more difficult to get/keep the tires in the right window, no matter the temperatures.

Car number 11... I know it's an official document but at least let us know a bit more and not have to go check who runs number 11.

Well, I am sorry sir. I assumed you would know who drives car 1 and car 11: Max and Checo. Now you know.

Edit: And Checo is Sergio Perez just in case you don't know that.

What do you mean? It seems to be great stuff!

Honestly though, this will probably be a better than average track for Mercedes. Perhaps not as good as Spa or Silverstone, but better than aero efficiency tracks like Monza.

Early weather predictions have this year at 27-28 over the weekend. I checked and last year it was 19 during the race. Unfortunately no other comparables since it's a new time of the year. It's not as hot as Monza but still warm enough that Ferrari's heating issues shouldn't be super prominent. Low 20s is when they started to struggle in previously (e.g. China)

Wow, large change in tire pressures compared to 2023. In 2023, rears were 23 psi and fronts 25 psi.

I almost never pay attention to driver numbers because they are always too small to see on TV. I know some of them but not all.

This was a dig at the FIA by the way, not you. It should be in the document that is it Car 11 of Sergio Perez, RBR or something like that.

Baku can also be a lottery. That's a big factor.

Mercedes seems to be better on front-limited tracks, though.

I preferred it when teams took the number. Driver numbers is just a way to sell more hats
