Driving reprimand for George, he stays P5
Reasoning given was Sainz was in the Turn 2 run-off and went in there with George behind and committed to his braking, so GR could slow no more. Counts as a mitigating factor. George was guilty of accelerating normally as he could see the green after T2 though
I don't mind either way and he may have gotten it past the stewards, but the mentality in this sport is broken. When you see a car stopped, you slow. It doesn't matter if there are flags or not. It's out of respect and to avoid unnecessarily endangering the lives of your colleagues. You should not need a flag to tell you that when you can SEE the car. This kind of thinking should come first, but unfortunately it has never been the case in Formula 1. Until something goes wrong, they won't learn.
I respect that Norris backed off when he saw the Alpine. It was the respectful thing to do. Don't take a human life for granted. Stopped and slow moving F1 cars are the most dangerous obstacles on the track. Some of the worst accidents that motorsport has ever seen come when two cars moving at a great difference of speed collide.
