I thought the whole thing was ludicrous from the word go, and gave people on here a hard time for suggesting otherwise.

Interesting, going through all the .pdf's that the Daily Mail posted.

I was sort of hoping this would happen though, right now with Flavio and Symonds just resigning this means maybe the FIA won't go so hard on the team as a whole. Although expect a few more people go to their way, not just them two...

I'm thinking something along the lines of Renault being DQ'd for the 2008 championship aswell as this season. Not sure about Alonso though, It'll be interesting what he has to say about all of this now, aswell as others within Renault.

I was quite surprised today when I read all of this, I'd have thought Flavio would've put up a fight!

At the end of the day, I hope Renault are at least still here in some form next season.

I think Pat blew it at the FIA hearing by confessing it's been discussed.. but that Nelson started it. Also by refusing to answer crucial questions. He might as well could have denied everything instead of freaking out of lying about things under oath. Or you deny completely, or you confess and keep a little dignity, but not something in between. Well, maybe one day he can say to his grandchilds he was innocent since he never confessed being guilty ..

He accelerated differently every lap and on one lap came very close to the traces of the lap he crashed. I wonder how it look at qualifying session.
You can also note that on the lap he crashed he braked later into turn 15 - he probably tried to improve his lap time.

I just an article that among other questions asks this: why Flav and Pat will sack NPjr so badly knowing what they did and that he could bring this thing on?

I also ask why Flav and Renault F1, brought the blackmail issue to the criminal court in France? Flav says he got authorization from Renault, but just a few days latter they leave the team (or more likely being sacked)? It smells a lot IMO.

Because you'd expect him to be banned from FIA-backed motorsport at least for a few years for what he did in Singapore.

Shame for Symonds, I don't know how much a part of this he was.

Good riddance for Flav, this is far from the first time that Flav has been accused of trickery, lying, or cheating in F1. It goes back to the 1990s. Flav was a big disgrace to F1 in my opinion, and I am happy to see him go.

All that is left would be to finally see Mosley and Ecclestone go.

I think it is agreed that in his personal life Briatore is a pig of a man. However, professionally his achievments and success cannot be disputed either. Will he be banned for race fixing or be on the open market? Technically since Renault made no challenge to the charges, there is no decision from the FIA. Or am I missing something?

Force India is doing well on it's own, but he could take them to the next level.

I don't know how picky teams are with whom they employ against the advise of the FIA. I certainly expect Flabby to get on the black list. That is not to say teams could not employ him. He technically has never been a licensee of the FIA and so they have no jurisdiction over his employment. Same applied to Stepney and Coughlan.

The problem would come when he starts to make applications in the name of a new team. The FIA could all the sudden find some funny things to object to. They do have a lot of discretionary power in their dealings with teams and would not be inclined to make life easy for that new employer I would guess.

What about in Pat's case?

He would be a very good guy to have in any F1 team, perhaps especially the new teams!

As far as we know he did not take the immunity option which will probably land him on the black list as well. If you do not cooperate you are usually treated as a bad boy whatever people think of him.
