There's that video clip where Leclerc and Piastri slide in the corner one after another... It got me straight to Schumacher Hakkinena era :D goosebumps

I know it doesn’t matter, but man do I wish they committed to the whole papaya identity and used a livery similar to what they ran in 2018.

I actually hate the current livery and I truly mean that. It looks like something pulled together in an F1 game, mostly black with streaks of orange and sponsors littered everywhere. Okay they can’t do much about that, but it would look a lot better if the entire car was papaya.
I honestly don’t get the hate for the current McLaren liveries. They are colourful and make the cars look fast. Would I prefer the Vodafone liveries or Marlboro liveries? Yes. Do I think these ones still look great? Also yes.

The google chrome tyres are a bit much maybe, but honestly I don’t think it’s too bad.

Which one do you think looks best? Because personally I would pick the 2018 livery every day of the week and it's not even close.

For me it's easily the 2024 livery and it's really not even a debate. Perhaps it's because the 2024 cars simply look better, but I really think it pops on the 2024 car and looks amazing. I think the black stripes offer some nice contrast, while the blue in the 2018 livery really looks like some 2008-type livery that is way too glossy and tries to compensate for a lack of detail with excessive colour. Out of the late 2010s-early 2020s McLaren liveries I think the 2018 livery is the worst and the 2021 livery the best.

For me the only team that really works with solid gloss colours is Ferrari, and even then I think I prefer their 2024 livery to solid red gloss. Though the ideal Ferrari livery to me would probably be something like the pre-HP 2024 livery but in gloss.

To each their own I guess. In my opinion the black is excessive and the color is incorporated badly with weird shapes that look like something a 12 year old would think looks cool on their need for speed car.

So if we have a special livery for Singapore (reveal tomorrow) but RBR cancelled theirs due to weight, does that mean the MCL38 is lighter overall?

Likely just means Redbull are in panic mode.

To me 2024 livery looks better than 2018. Especially from the front where there is less black visible. They've done well to keep the weight down by putting color in critical areas (wings and nose)

What could make it even better is if they increase amount of orange. It may happen once they get the weight under control.

Maybe. Also it could mean that McLaren is more dedicated to the sponsors. They are running that epaper screen as well (not sure if it is in every race).

Funny to see how desperate Red Bull is. Cancelling a livery because it adds a minimal amount of weight is crazy.

Agreed with the MCL34, closely followed by the MCL33. With the 35 it turned for worse with the matte finish and the elongating look of the livery making already long cars look even longer. This year's livery is better than it's been since 2022, but it's a far cry from the glossy papaya and vega blue of the 33 and 34.

Mcl34 for me too. Just such amazing colours. Truly stands out and if kept a long time it would be iconic

Can we just take a moment and apreciate the fact that McLaren are pushing great design ideas and exploiting gray areas around car design.

You know that the team is seting design standards when Rb and ferari are complainig to the fia and crying like little b(abbies)

Mclaren have a contract for one of their sponsors to produce 4 special liveries per year.

It was OKX, who are designing the Singapore livery.

A fast car is a beautiful car, I'd prefer a bit less black and the blockiness of the sponsor logo is a bit strong. But it's very striking and unmistakable on the track, which was Bruce's original intention with the PAPAYA, rather than the New Zealand national colour of..... black. Remember, British cars were green, Italian red, Japanese white with a red spot! So McLaren were somewhat game changers.

Yes!! This one for me too.

Followed by the Silverstone one off from 2023!!

So if you feel the need to respond to anyone claiming McLaren are cheating with it's Baku rear wing

“The FIA is closely monitoring the flexibility of bodywork on all cars and reserves the right to request teams to make modifications at any point during the season,” a statement read. “However, if a team successfully passes all deflection tests and adheres to the regulations and technical directives, they are deemed to be in full compliance, and no further action will be taken.”

Over and out. The hyperventilation is just a product of
(a) the need for content by media outlets
(b) teams closest in performance to McLaren trying everything to disrupt and distract

I'm confident the team will be very strong at Singapore (with a different, high downforce rear wing)!
