RB17 aero specs

Post

L/D=Cl/Cd= 16 : 1
Downforce 17000N at 160km/h (44m/s)
frontal area, I choose 1.5m2 (is it Ok?)

Cl= 17000N/ (0,5 x 1.2kg/m3 x 44m/s^2 x 1.5m2)
Cl=9,5

Cl/Cd=16/1....
Cd=0,59

Do you think this is ok?

I think the highest L/D I've ever seen quoted for an F1 car was 8:1 for the 82 Williams, and I think that was without wheel forces.

But wheels get huge aero drag, so why without wheels drag?

In the past wheels were not mounted to the wind tunnel model but separately on their own struts, in fact I think it's mid-2000s before every team had wheels fixed to the car.

Out of interest where are you getting your numbers from?

Newey said L/D is 16:1 and 17000N downforce, the rest I calculate from these two..
