Magnussen took fastest lap on Lap 54, but the lap was deleted, so it was handed back to Lando.

This is just Daniel and Magnussen trying to go out with a bang, since their race were effed anyway. There's nothing unusual about Max thanking Daniel either, given their history as teammates, and that it helps him.

Agreed. But i understand people are complaining about it because Max will be champion if he keeps finishing second now no matter what.

For Magnussen it kinda made sense, though, as he took fastest lap in 2018 and 2019 as well, and therefor was holding the track record for a couple of years.

Conspiracy doing the rounds pretty well given that Ricciardo got a late call with 2 laps to go and Magnussen Pitted with 9 laps to go, the lost the fastest laps because it was not a legitimate lap.

Never been a fan of the fastest lap point but today it really stinks, especially when a satellite team is the one being played with. Since they are insistant of keeping the rule, at least make it count only for the fastest lap among the top 10 drivers or something like that. Seems wrong that a driver that has nothing to do with the fight is able to impact the points handed out in the end.

No it isn't. Backmarkers pitting late and taking FL (even if they don't get a point) when they have the chance, just to make a statement, is not uncommon in F1.

Agreed. Red Bull might deny it, but if Max wins it by a point it will be because of this.
