Well its not necessary they change but they could. The min. weight is lower so teams would want a more efficient and lighter PU. A more powerful ICE can significantly reduce the limitations expected with significantly higher percentage of battery power.
They're not having problems meeting weight now? RBR said they were 20KG over weight the first year of current regs. You don't think if they could have made the PU lighter, they wouldn't have? Hell, most cars ran without paint!

Weight is time in F1 So everything is as light as can be. Even being under weight is an advantage. It allows you to put ballast exactly where you need it to improve handling.

in 2026 everyone is talking about power units, but at least in the beginning weight will be just as big of an issue for teams. theyve lowered the minimum weight but with the larger battery cells theyll be carrying its highly likely that teams will be well above that for a while. if one team can get on top of that before the others theyll have a big advantage. hopefully honda has some tricks up their sleave concerning the batteries weight
