During this second 4 weeks (fall) stop drivers still keep training. Last weekend Max and his trainer Rupert trained in Monaco

and now he is in Portugal with his Dutch friend Mark Cox who is also a personal trainer. He showed what they did on the first day.

They are there for the wedding of Felix da Costa this week.

Perez on the other hand lets do Carola all the heavy training at La Paz (Mexico) last week (just kidding):

Tsunoda back in the race for Red Bull cockpit

Sergio Perez continues to worry about his Red Bull cockpit. Now there is even a threat from Yuki Tsunoda.

October 10, 2024

Red Bull chief advisor Helmut Marko (81) to F1-Insider.com: "Tsunoda is a candidate to drive alongside Max in 2025. The remaining races of this season will decide what our driver pairings will look like for next year."

In other words: Anything is possible, including that Verstappen's teammate Sergio Perez will have to vacate his cockpit at the world champion team.

One thing is certain: New Zealander Liam Lawson (22), who will replace the fired Australian Daniel Ricciardo at the Racing Bulls from the next race, will have a kind of elimination race against Tsunoda. Whoever performs better becomes a candidate for Red Bull.

Then it will be decided whether Perez's performance was good enough to give the 34-year-old Mexican another year alongside the Flying Dutchman. But Marko already has a clear favorite.
"I can very well imagine a junior driver driving alongside Max." So Tsunoda or Lawson.
"We decided to compare Lawson and Tsunoda. They have the same material, the same conditions and each now has six races to prove that he is the better one."

TBH, it's very unfair on Lawson. He got 2 (or 3?) races with Tsunoda in 2023 and he proved a match. Now he is going to get only 6 races going against a driver who has been in the cockpit every race weekend over the past 4-5 years. The experience level comparison is bizarre. I would say if Lawson just matches Tsunoda (which Ricciardo wasn't able to), then he should get the seat alongside Max.

Too far from the RB F1team proper, Wouter. Let’s keep posts with no relation to racing at a minimum, please. Focus on F1, thanks.

I mean, Lawson has a drive next year no matter what. I don't know how this is so unfair.

Since when has Perez nothing to do withthe RBR team? And since when has Ford nothing to do with the RBR team?
It is always about Max here in this thread. Now it is about Checo for once and it isn't related to the RBR team?
I don't get it @Hollus.

Edit: Never mind.

if you believe your own words that lawson is indeed a match for yuki then they is nothing unfair hear.it would have been unfair if lawson never got a chance.

If Lawson can just about match Tsunoda in the final few rounds then probably he deserves the Red Bull seat just as much as Yuki. But I'm not advocating for that to be done as it would be a lot of stress on a rookie. Keep Perez for 2025. Right now ditching Perez and moving one of Yuki/Lawson to red bull clears a spot in vcarb but there isn't anyone ridiculously promising without a seat other than maybe Colapinto if Marko considers him that good already..

Re-evaluate fully for 2026 when Lindblad might be coming up to Vcarb, max might leave etc

the like of lawson and yuki has already beaten colapinto in lower formulars thats why his Carrer never took off .dont be naive and think he is the next best thing .ones f1 get to technical tracks his true ability will be reognized.he could be another deviry.lawson was close to yuki but ones f1 went to tilke track he was 0.6 tenth behind .you need more than a season to evaluate a driver because they learn and develop.

Lawson is yet to sharpen his skills, because that can come only from real life experience. Yuki has had more than enough 'soak time' in F1 (thanks to Honda) that his skill level has plateau-ed already. If Lawson finishes behind Yuki for the remaining 6 races, and for that reason alone isn't given the RedBull seat, it wouldn't be a fair assessment, because if just after half a season Lawson is suddenly driving better than Yuki, he would be wasted in the VCARB, where he could have served better in a faster Redbull instead.

Where did you read that in the article? If you read the article carefully, it says that f1-Insider is their source.
A link is provided. In it you can read the following:
"Dann wird entschieden, ob die Leistungen von Perez gut genug were, um dem 34 Jahre alten Mexikaner noch ein weiteres Jahr an der Seite des fliegenden Dutchmen zu geben."
"Then [at the end of the season] it will be decided whether Perez's performance was good enough to give the 34-year-old
Mexican another year at the side of the flying Dutchman."
