When have you saw MCLaren giving sparks almost in the whole lap in QUAL but in Race this happens only in the end of the straights with the car fully loaded with fuel? From what i have seen with my eyes according to what i say above, the only possibility is MB for me. No other team shows this kind of behavior in their cars.

The sparks and hot seats speak for Mercedes. However, they were not particularly strong in qualifying recently. It is also not typical for Mercedes to implement such a grey area trick without FIA approval.

Maybe Williams or indeed Mclaren based on their strong general performance lately?
However, Mclaren is strong on race pace and less so in qualifying and this system mainly benefits qualifying I guess.

Sure I’ve seen some mechanics leaning inside the cockpit at parc ferme. Can’t remember exactly where or who

They were the only ones that made the car so low and teams didn't understand how

As much as you want it to be red bull, we can't confirm that now. Simply running low doesn't confirm anything. Besides, even going with your 'theory' Red bull haven't been running the lowest of all teams since last year. Red bull consistently have trouble balancing their setup between race and quali and a narrow window

A team with access to this extra setup trick would be able to fine tune their car for the race and qualifying and probably have smaller swings in performance, are more consistent, and have excellent ride characteristics in quali and race

If a team suddenly has big problems from now until the rest of the season or further information comes out then we can make declarations

But I hope this thread doesn't become fans slinging --- on all sides claiming it's the other team simply because they want it to be

It's a setup tool, not a way to limit plank wear or prevent porpoising. It just allows a team to run two different ride heights in qualifying and the actual race. It does not allow a team to run lower than they otherwise could, be it due to plank wear or porpoising limitations.

That's exactly what it is. If you don't have issues with aero bouncing and want to go as low as possible with overall setup (which is what every team wants), you'll be limited by the front of the bib and plank because of two things the most:

- plank/bib scraping the ground under braking
- plank/bib hitting bumps and kerbs head-on

If you can raise the front in Q setup and then put it back down for the race you get the best of both worlds. Front end of the plank is the one that gets worn out the most

And to get away with that you would need huge amount of front-end lateral stiffness. How would you do it with a pliable ride when you would get uneven plank wear depending on the track direction? Clockwise you'll be wearing the left side and vice versa.
Tell tale signs of this would be huge understeer and particularly poor over kerbs.

Who has been complaining most about that?
