New base = floor? Or chassis?
Floor. Mercedes did the same thing in 2022 and 2023 where they bring a new floor to Austin to be competitive for the rest of the season and for next year, but every team will be doing that at this point. And there should be some more parts if James Allison says "new set of clothes"

Lewis Hamilton:
“We’ve been a bit out of sequence [compared] to the others. The others have all upgraded at times we haven’t, so we’re bringing an upgrade here for example. Some people probably will bring small pieces here, but maybe not everyone will have the same upgrade we have here.”
..
“So I think we understand where we’ve gone wrong, I think not necessarily wrong, but where we’ve veered off and I’m hoping this weekend we can start back on a better balance.”

It makes sense, they've barely changed the bodywork like sidepods or engine cover all season :)

Let's hope It brings a little step up in performance [-o<

They seem to go in a similar way the Alpine has it.

I've noticed this too. Ferrari claimed the inlets they copied from red bull didn't provide the gains they thought. Could Mercedes and alpines design be something others look at?

Alpine in 2022 had some of the best aero on the grid, despite their performances I trust them and their solutions

Interesting. Let's hope for a small performance step in both pure performance and driveability :)

Motorsport:
Mercedes also has a new front wing and front suspension package, which the team has noted will "reduce front wing wake which improves flow to the rear of the car."

The Brackley outfit has also brought new bodywork to Texas, reprofiling the sidepod inlet to increase the overbite to improve the quality of airflow moving through the cooling components within the car.

Furthermore, the W15 has received a new floor which features a new floor edge wing with an added vane, and reprofiled floor fences to draw more performance out of the underbody.

This follows the team's roll-back on the floor design it introduced for the Belgian Grand Prix, which it ultimately took off for the race owing to troubles in setting the car up with it.

Having the ability to make changes, after the sprint portion, should be of benefit with all of these updates

How come George can put in a lap going early and Lewis blames the team for a stinker under the same conditions?
