Well it was a complete failure today. That was too much time loss on that third part. I'm dissapointed as things went out completely differently.

Good fight. Small margins.

For the record, Lando did a quicker S3 in SQ1 than in SQ3 (by a tenth). There was pace in the car.

If Red Bull are back, that's season over. ( early pessimism)

It was not enough. The set up wasn't ideal definately. I deny that Red Bull became relevant from one race to another suddenly. In any case points are given tomorrow.

They spent a lot more time on softs in FP1 so it could be just that, but the car looks better for Max now.

Red Bull have always been relevant. They finished 2nd ladt race, an easy second. They were in the fight in Baku. Just because they weren't clear at the front, doesn't mean they haven't been around.

A bit of an upgrade and fix was always going to push them forward.

It may be setup. Hopefully by qualifying the team can sort it out a bit.

They are running with a car which since Miami has barely seen any change. They have optimized the sh*t out of it, but no real upgrades have been put on that car for a while now.

If they are working on a floor but were scared to bring it here because of the sprint, then it still doesn't speak well about their optimism on the effectiveness on what's being developed. I feel like a broken record with how many times I have mentioned this, but the fact that they keep going with the Miami spec while the competition is 2-3 rafts ahead is not good. Luckily for them, half of those were duds and the competition wasted time looking into fixing problems, but you can't go on like this, especially when you claim to be on a title fight.

The longer they go without bringing some sort of meaningful upgrade to that car, the more worried I get about the development of the 2025 car.

Strange that Lando was -0.009 vs Russell after S2 and by the end of the lap he was +0.25. I watched again Lando's onboarding for S3 and no clear mistake except a small engine snap (maybe due to an error in gear selection?) on the last corners.

Zak has said a couple of times today the drivers aren’t happy with the balance. Hopefully they can sort that and have better lap times tomorrow

Saw someone mention a gear selection issue. But I'm not sure exactly. S3 had been pretty good mainly.

It looks like he might have had a snap in the long 16-17-18 fast sequence and his minimum speed on 19 is really bad, so a mistake there as well. Without that, car might have had sprint pole here, which would have been a mega effort by Lando with how "uncooperative" the car looks so far.

It was a Max pole rather than a Red Bull pole.

Let’s see how they all fair in the races

Great info and graph. This shows exactly what I heard on engine mode running, and is confirmed by your post, happening in turns 16-18 area.
Is only the start of the weekend, and if this is "the mistake" I am happy to take it here, on sprint quali, and to perform better in the main race. And this is valid also for Oscar. Heads up and let's bring some good results!

We’ll have to wait for Lando to do his usual and confirm that his lap was rubbish in the post quali interview =P~
