Merc have made changes to both Lewis' and George's cars (more changes on Lewis' end) lets see if it ends up making it worse
Literally one of Lewis’ most dominant tracks. The heck are they doing?

to add insult to injury, lap got deleted for track limits, starts p18, might as well say screw it and start from the pit lane

They are always making changes to the car. It was fine stop faffing with it. That was shocking probably one of the worst qualifying Lewis has done.

Lewis Hamilton: "We had a front suspension failure on the Formation Lap before the Sprint and I had to race that in the Sprint. I think I'll start from the pit lane tomorrow because the car is a nightmare.
According to Ted, Merc confirmed this was an issue but didnt say that it happened again in quali. something to do with a bearing

What a joke, it's like the w13 again, trying to kill the pair of them #-o

George may end up starting behind lewis or with him in the pit lane!!

He goes in too fast, that's it. Of course russell binned it on it's own.

Reminded me of Lewis’ crash in Austria 2022. When you’re chasing that little extra, you sometimes get a slap

Thats what you get merc for running these mad setups between sessions and putting the car on a knife edge. Crazy how the car let go there at that corner for Russell. Lewis will pretty much have another experimental setup for tomorrows race. Its simply not good enough. The development has been hit and miss but the main thing to me is this car is bog standard. Im sorry to rant but regardless of the 3 wins viewing this car onboard from both cars has been a death trap at times. They still don't understand these ground effect cars and basically THEY ARE SCREWED. You can't be going down these blind alleys and not expect the W16 (Possibly even the W17) to have some of its inherent flaws of the W15.
“And that’s part of the game, is being able to be adaptive, and we’ve got this new car – I don’t know how it’s going to handle, hopefully she’s great.”

Unfortunately no telemetry of the lap where RUS crashed so won't be able to tell if it's due to speed or what speed difference we're talking about.
RUS again asked "no idea what's different with the car today vs yesterday" which is obviously weird since he knows it's 10C hotter.

It's a strange crash but ultimately this car really is a terrible car.

its a big upgrade package on a sprint weekend, the car showed signs of improvement yesterday with Lewis' quali times but then both cars ate their tires come the sprint, sometimes you need a couple weekends to dial it in, but saying that theres still a lot of problems with Merc, still have a car that overheats its rear tires, is very sensitive to temperature, while better than the W13 and 14 still has a relatively narrow setup window

George Russell says he’s “a little bit confused why Lewis and I were fighting for front row yesterday and today we were nowhere.”

it's a classic case of oversteery balance leading to a snap in a high speed corner.
Too much front DF w.r.t rear OR too little rear DF w.r.t front.
