yuki got lazy and comfortable with ric.he used to be a fighter and made lots of places at start.the strategy was suboptimal the penalty was unwarranted and that setup changes was unnecessary after he had a good sprint race.gasly and mag had a good weekend but they too lost out to those on hard tires.

They should have pitted Yuki before the mediums dropped off, one lap too late. But in truth Yuki's car didn't have the pace and Liam was afforded clean air the entire race.

Not a true comparison but Yuki still should have had p10 or gotten close. The mistake at turn 1 was stupid.

I think the team gives a target time to the driver. When the team realised that the race was a 1-stop race, they tried to go slow to get to the end. Obviously the worst possible strategy. Gasly and Tsunoda crashed, both with the same strategy.

I'm surprised by the expressed opinions that the US GP could go 2 stop. Even Croft in one of his worst moments and reminiscent of the late Murray Walker talked about the possibility of a one stopper - just before halfway as front runners were pitting to go onto hards!!! I think sometimes the delta times the race engineers set are conservative - the McLarens both dropped their lap times late into their first stint and went longer than anticipated. These things are more likely to occur on Sprint weekends when setup time is severely reduced and there is a general lack of information. I thought Liam looked slightly quicker from the get go, then significantly quicker as the setup took a large step. I didn't hear all the driver radio but didn't Yuki lose his rag to his engineer again?

I was surprised to hear that sentiment as the leading drivers all made their projected one stop lap targets on the mediums with ease. Was it really just that some of the midfield drivers (on mediums) got too feisty battling one another?

The car looks fast this weekend. Too bad that Tsunoda's crash ruined both their Q2 attempts - and potentially his race as well.

Tsunoda is running a new floor this weekend, which according to his statements in Japanese media comes with a 0.07-0.08s advantage over Lawson's version. Now it seems to be unsure though whether it can still be used today or not.

Hopefully Lawson has good security around him leaving the track. Definitely knew who he was racing and picked his battles. Appreciate the ruthlessness tbh.

in a way, yes, but in the end it maybe cost him the chance to score a point. He got a bit of payback from Perez when they met the 2nd time, and then his tires weren't good enough anymore to pass Stroll right away and close in on Gasly.

Personally I was very motivated to see Lawson in F1. But after this race and later seeing Lawson give Perez the middle finger...
I completely lost the respect I had for him.
