Was it confirmed or established that if Red Bull made the car better or worse with the setup changes from sprint to race?
I mean it's clear that it has been worse relative to the competition. But I don't think I saw any analysis about whether Red Bull improved to it' former self, and just the others improved even more? Or the new setup made them slower?
They made the change to protect the rears as this was indicating during the sprint to be a problem, however it also allowed in some understeer which doesn’t suit Max so it was a hard one to tell. He could push more on his sprint set up but he would lose tyre delta quicker. Consequences of the changes on a sprint weekend unfortunately.

I imagine they will be able to get a good dial of things here with 3 practices however, the same is said for all teams

You were asking if Honda is paying his salary, didn't you?

NO, Honda isn't paying his salary. Red Bull is paying his salary.
Come on...we are not, in fact, just playing with words here, right?
You can in the same way claim, that RedBull is paying the salary of Perez, of course...if you want to play with words.
But does it play any role? My point is, that the money in the end comes from someone else. In case of Perez from Mexico, on case of Yuki from Japan. Which is at least an interesting similarity.

Liam probably has started on that regimen but he's still got a kid's body.
I would not read anything into this. People react different on training. It would be surprising and a quick end to his career if he is not at 100% after this much prep time he had.

Let's see if RB favor Liam and simply give him better set up and strategy.
Paranoia? Why should any team compromise, especially if they want to have a genuine shoot out?
In the end it is mostly mistaken here...of course the driver needs to bring proper feedback and makes his own bed in Q...bad Q, Bad strategy often goes together as they need to do something different.
Paranoia? More like skepticism and doubt. The driver market is all about favoritism and judged by the body language in the paddock this past weekend you can tell there are a lot of unhappy drivers up and down the grid that are unhappy with their situation even if they have a seat for next year!

Did they do that with Daniel? He was far more loved by people in Red Bull than any other driver and were eager have him in the Senior team. Yet, he simply had to compete with the same equipment.

Yeah, this is what we know, but I never saw an analysis or confirmation about if this was a good change overall or not. Like what is the bottomline conclusion.

I read somewhere that Marko said they overdid it in shifting the balance towards the rear.

Verstappen says racing rules “overregulated” amid Norris US GP fight fallout

Max Verstappen's tactics against Lando Norris came under fire after their US GP battle

Max Verstappen feels the current Formula 1 racing guidelines are overregulated, as he refutes claims that he never intended to make Turn 12 in his United States Grand Prix fight with Lando Norris.

"It’s quite impressive that people can read my mind [with apex tactics]. It’s crazy," Verstappen said.
Top Videos

"I always try to make the corner, I didn’t want to look for a shortcut, so I don’t even know what to answer to this one. We’ve always said we wanted to race each other hard, that’s what we like to do.

"It was quite a difficult second stint. I lost a lot of grip on the front axle, it’s very difficult to brake. That’s what made my defence more difficult, because I know that if I braked a little bit too late, I would lock up and I really didn’t have the front grip.

"It wasn’t easy for me out there. I think all in all we still had a positive weekend for us, but still a few things of course that we want to do better, to be in that fight.

"I honestly believed, going into the race, that I would be in the fight, and we weren’t, so that wasn’t ideal. But at least it did show some promising signs that maybe we could be back in the fight.”

"I think we are getting to a stage where I always need the book in the car! If you look of course over the years, the book has grown quite a lot,” Verstappen said.

"It is definitely overregulated, but then I can see the other point of if we take rules away, and there’s again an incident… ‘Oh, you need more rules! We need to be strong about this!’

"It’s always the same thing. In the past, we have maybe less rules, and you have the same argument: ‘You know, we need to be strong on this, on that’. It’s always the same story."

Norris still disagrees with Austin F1 penalty: 'Verstappen went in too hard'

"I’ve not spoken to Max at all because he did what he thought was right and I did what I thought was right. I still disagree and as a team we disagree," Norris reflected.

"I think what we saw with George [Russell]'s and [Valtteri] Bottas’s version in some ways was very similar to ours: I was completely ahead of Max, I was over a car length ahead of him. I was no longer the attacking car, he was.

"I was ahead of Max, I was having to defend, he was the one attacking me and effectively he has gone in too hard and overtaken off the track.

"I just maintained my position so it is something I am sure we will discuss as it has been a big talking point since last weekend. A lot of other drivers didn’t agree with it, teams didn’t agree with it.

"I think the point is that he only stayed ahead of me at the apex because he went off the track, he would not have been ahead at the apex if he braked where he should’ve braked and stayed on the track. I think that is obvious."

"It is not as easy as just saying . Do I need to make some changes? Yes. And adapt a little bit more. But is everything I am doing wrong? Also no," Norris contended.

"I had a lot of fun and I respected the battle that we had. He still ended up on top and I need to be beating him. So some little things I need to change but I don’t need to change my whole approach.

"Max is probably the best in the world at what he does. When I am going up against the best in the world it is not going to be an easy thing to do.

"He has been racing in this position for longer than I have. I am definitely not doing a perfect job, but I'm not doing a bad job.

"I think there are certain things I don’t agree with but I still want to be racing, I don’t want there to be rules for absolutely everything.

"I just believed the way I got a penalty last weekend and the consequences of how that happened I didn’t agree with, and that’s the only thing that needs to be changed. It is clear what his intentions are and it is difficult for me to get around."

Thought the right of review expires soon after the race?

Wonder if they’ve filled the paperwork in right this time

The right of review is not based on the merit of the issue, but only on the presence of new evidence that was not available at the time; for the review to be accepted you must provide new evidence, then a second audience will be taken to address the actual merit of the decision. There is practically no chance new elements emerge in these situations, that's why all the recent rights of review were rejected, seems McLaren is only trying to make some noise (which of course is in their right).

Ok. Then Red Bull can request a review of Baku Gp? Mclaren should be excluded from the race in Baku. Vasseur said that it can be stated in black and white that the mini drs is illegal. The only reason they won there. Red Bull should do that imo.

I am not sure you can request a right of review for a technical reason, I think you should protest the result with a different procedure, and they may be out of time for protest the Baku GP. Vasseur is playing his game obviously, but I think nobody had real intention of officially protesting McLaren for the mini-DRS.

Only confirmation was from Horner and Marko, hopefully we get a good idea of how things are this weekend but Mexico is very much an outlier of a track

It’s all about noise right now, McLaren failed in its bid to stump red bull with its “illegal bib” and then spent the week talking about signing affidavits (lol), in my opinion they’re trying to cover up for their own problems

For me Mexico and Brasil are the two most crucial races of the season. If miracle happens and we keep about 50 points of a lead with 3 races to go I would start to be more optimistic. But because its F1, and everything can happen I will be on the edge of the seat at every moment.

No matter what happens, Max in the last few seasons was absolutely fantastic. Its my favourite era in this century beside 2010-2013 when Seb won. I would give everything for Max to repeat what Vettel did. [-o<

I imagine we’ll see both Norris and Max take new power units at the Brazil GP so that will be exciting. In my opinion our biggest threat now is Ferrari. They seem to be locked in with their car and leclerc is a better driver who can get results
