They ran some tests with Pato with the old floor and then switched to the new one.
Oscar was on old one. Plenty of data to compare.

To my Eyeball Mk1, the car didn't seem to bounce after they switched to new floor so that is good.

well the floor seem to be all updates underneath, floor edge completely the same, ive been going through all pics available. Oscar top

But definitly changes made, im quessing mainly central diffuser area. They were running flowvis to verify, but no good pics of it

Anybody see a similarity as to Rob Marshall/Peter Prodromou 2012/13 Red Bulls?
Very high downforce, easy to setup, maybe not the best car on the grid everywhere, but has outright qualities.

Also making very comprehensive use of Mercedes power unit. All the other MB engined chassis to compare to, but extracting a consumate performance from it in this design and installation.

Been waiting for better photos on any website and I've seen some good angles of the new floor from the side. In short, I haven't seen any new detail at the front or on top surface of the floor. There's a chance McLaren lowered the throat section a bit more where diffuser starts, visible from some side angles. But I haven't seen a compeling new shape anywhere.

The only other option remains with front turning vane changes, boat section underside and some diffuser geometry changes. Norris' feedback tells a similar tale, if he can't feel particular difference, it's probably not too different anyway

I'll look again later and if I find a quality photo of side view I'll make a comparison and we can see if there's a change somewhere else

Maybe at the moment there is not a big difference vs as is floor, but the development potential is bigger. According to https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/mcla ... /10666662/

Thanks. I don’t know what wrong with me, I’d already read the article somebody else posted and watched the video you posted and completed missed the key points #-o

I’m struggling to get my head around these updates. In COTA Lando said the new front wing wasn’t must of an update and with the new floor there isn’t much change.
Yet the team stated on the car submission form that the floor has been ‘heavily revised’ something isn’t adding up

I think they are all seeing diminishing returns, Vasseur has repeatedly said about this and Marshall the same here:

As chief designer Rob Marshall said: “The bouncing is kind of there on the edge the whole time. I think some people still experience it more than others.
“We do see it. We don't seem to have suffered particularly, but whether it limits us performance-wise, I think it's probably on the edge of limiting us.
“These regs have been with us for a while and they are much more limited in terms of what the aerodynamicists can play with.
“So I guess it's like scraping around the bottom of the jar for the last bit of lap time. You know, you've got a knife, now you're in all the corners. And not much comes out…”

I’m wondering if the changes were a few mm here, a few mm there in a fashion all over the floor. Would be very hard to spot even in comparative pictures
