We saw in Baku how hard it is to overtake somebody who you're not that much faster than.

Mclaren also have killer pace at the end of stints, making them supremely hard to undercut or anything like that.

Getting ahead of them in the first couple laps has to be goal, assuming we start behind them.

I felt like we didn’t maximise new tyres at the end so hope there’s more to come, as up until then we looked good. Perhaps we chased the set up too much and then the increased grip ruined the balance?

Either way, I think we can indeed expect to struggle more on one lap and agree with the folks here that second row lockout would be a fine result. Slipstream down to turn one can be useful anyway and, despite difficulties overtaking, I’d rather prioritise race pace over one lap (not that I believe it’s an entirely conscious choice - I think that’s just inherent to the car design).
